as a 15 year old car guy I find channels like these informative and help me quite allot on how my first car is going to be. Edit: a lot has happened in the 6 years since posting this, I in fact had a car at a point but not the money to modify, it was an e46 318 that I miss a lot but had to be sold so I can study mechanical engineering, Im in my 3rd year now, I actually own an old yamaha fzr250 that Im restoring during my holidays. Despite not having a cool modded car that I dreamt of 6 years ago, I feel that myself 6 years ago would be very proud of where I am today and the knowledge Ive gained since posting this. To the next 6 years!

I can only recommend the Eibach springs! I got the Eibach Sportline springs installed on my 2003 Cupra R and the car handles absolutely fantastic with them. Apart from the looks, they also reduce body roll quite a bit and it makes even more fun driving the car around corners. The decrease in comfort is minimal and best of all, they don't interfere with bigger rims, since they are designed to not go lower under full load than the stock suspension. And they are quite cheap as well!

Lowered springs and struts better value if you are just going to set and forget coilovers. Coilovers only good if you want that EXACT fitment, or track your car every other weekend. There was a time when I answered many suspension-related questions on EvolutionM. The one that comes to mind right now is a guy who dumped his Evo with shitty Asian coilovers- Megan, IIRC - as to minimize the wheel gap, installed the biggest RSB available, had his wheels with some oddball offset bolted to spacers, and wanted to know the alignment specs. As a result of the mods, his car's geometry was so messed up that we had no idea what to suggest. Functionally, not only did his Evo mimic the cornering prowess of a snowplow, it was outright dangerous to corner at speed. Not that it really mattered, as he only drove the car, slowly, to park at a show. I mention this in case a person reading the post is interested in the actual act of driving, not sitting still. Do yourself a big favor and look into the constraints posed by the platform's geometry. Then mod the car, if you prefer, within those same constraints. Good luck.

Your channel is getting really good. 1.) How about functional and cosmetic factors into making your wheels look really good. Personally, I have to have a Brembo Big Brake Kit on my car. It enhances the look of the car, it's highly functional with reducing brake fade, and the stares I get from people are constant. Then there's light weight lug nuts or personalized color options of rims or even painting the center hubs of the OEM parts, because it usually does rust when no center caps come with the rims. 2.) The parameters into making wheels and tire fit into your car. I don't like the hyper strectched look. However, I must even admit, a 245/40 series tires on a 10.5 inch wide rim does look good when it's done right. When considering offset, width of rims, tire size, and other factors, I've seen some pretty amazing set ups. In the end, some of the best looking set ups, well, curb rash is only a matter of time. 3.) The concavity of rim choices... Advan and Volk are companies that come into mind where more concavity=bad ass looking rims. 4.) How to deal with and make sure you don't run into CURB RASH. How does the community deal with this. I paid 3200.00 for my Advan RZII's. So, you best believe, curb rash is always on my mind. 5.) A high emphasis of rims (with the right size and tire combo) is the most drastic change you can do to a car to make it look incredible.

If you tune them right and pick the right spring rate, absolutely. The lower you go, the stiffer you’re going to have the coils

Question: If bags work with air pressure, that means the lower the car is the softer the ride gets? Isn't that the opposite of what you'd want? Not just for "sporty" driving but for daily commuting. I mean, for daily driving you'd want a stock or "high" ride height which would be stiffer/less comfortable due to the higher pressure. So, if you want a comfortable/softer ride you got to lower it, but due to the ride being low and soft/bouncy you might scrape (either because of it being too low or too soft) Is my train of thought correct?

Europe uses hydros in the stance game. You can go bagged, juiced, or static. US hydros only used for lowrider almost exclusively.
@FitmentIndustries6 жыл бұрын
Hydros are definitely a great option too, not as common and not as practical. Still a way you can lower your car! 🖤

i wanna lower my car but i have a steep gravel driveway which is pretty uneven, so i would get air suspension but that is more than my entire car costs, so as a 16 year old owning my first car i think ill wait on it.

considering some sort of air lift on my f30 and coilovers on my E36 drift project. Found out that it was about 1,000 dollar for coilovers on the f30 so I thought why not just do it as I want my car to be right away :)

I'm running BC Racing BR's, my gf is running BC BR's and never going to switch to air. If you wanna be low, you're low all the time. Airsuspension is just cheating and I'm not saying this like I'm broke, I could buy airsuspension if I wanted to. But driving with coilovers is more fun to me. 1" clearance from the ground and I can go everywhere I want and so does my gf. She's also running a 1" clearance and never had a problem getting where se wants.
