Apologies for long post, loved the video Kris! I feel like Bushiroad's R&D are at a crossroads where they might be afraid to either: 1. Provide good support cards that actually address the problems of main set decks where they could become too powerful, and then prevent further development of that archetype because then it's "solved." 2. Provide decent generic staple cards like the Teithfalit clones that you mentioned, where many decks could use it with the right engine or support, but then deck building could become stale. I feel like they did try to attempt to address Stride decks vs Non-stride decks by providing another card that could give more shield, but attaching the Carbuncle clause was a really stupid move, they could of just reprinted the OG Carbuncles at that point. They could of just given that as a method for non-stride decks to counter the consistent power gain. Alternative ways of mitigating attacks exist, lowering crit on the attacking unit, redirection to another unit, retiring the attacking rearguard, lowering power during the battle phase, etc. They have at this point, a grab bag of mechanics that they could attempt to utilize again, we technically are reliving crossride again with the Fated/Destined Ones into Fated/Destined Kings. Throw in Limit Break again, hell, give it to a rearguard, that would be interesting. Rearguards that persistently get BETTER as the game gets really close to the end. Let me perfect guard, but instead of discarding, I have to bind the top five cards of my deck face down for the rest of the game. Give me alternative crests to use. If a stride deck can run two because they are mandatory, why can't I opt into using a legion mechanic crest, or an ultimate break crest with some kind of interesting finishing skill? Some of these ideas may be wild, or stupid, but I really think that they can explode on creativity with what they have, Bushi just needs to take more risks and not be afraid to use their ban list if it does get out of hand.

ye the new Liael RRR is so weird cuz it seems good on paper but its top 5, cost a CB in a deck that needs CB, doesn't bind itself and IIRC doesn't even activate during the Battle phase so you can't get 5-6 attacks when calling it

For the recent youth support. The new rr is appreciated, as you said it would have been nice for her to gain power atleast or make her the Languedechat for Youth (5k and ability to boost) just to make her more solid. But she's workable as you mentioned so I'm excited to cook up with her as she's out in EN

All the “anti-Stride support” make sense now that we know what’s coming in set 06, and that’s the thing. This set feels like a mix between support for everyone and “level the things for non-stride decks”, almost like Bushi wants to prevent another early Chronojet situation with the new stride by providing tools to work around it. Aside of the amazing upgrades for Rezael, Varga and Levidras, and Liael Odium(who’s cool), this set feels like a preparation for the next set, which will probably thank in the future, but now… it can give mixed thoughts

A lot of the support here I feel can be summed up to, "Its not what I expected, but the support is appreciated". Like for Impauldio, I would've really been excited for a way to get more drive checks. Like a g1 that gives +1 drive on boost. But the G1 we actually got is pretty good, so long as I ignore my previous expectations. More topdeck searching is good, lets you see your Vinstars, Bolbamine, etc., and it really reinforces how I see Impauldio as "Space Ezel".

21:04 In testing, I feel like you absolutely still play foxil. Foxil targetting the new g1 means that it's your fifth attack that also serves as a gigantic booster. With the new g3 rr, the attack pattern goes: levidras + foxil --> foxil target new g1 --> anotogaste in backrow --> new g3 in front row retiring anotogaste to get +10k --> whatever is in the other front row boosted by the new g1 --> new g1 moves itself to where anotogaste used to be and is your fifth attack. Empireo also summoning 3 markers means you can hit five attacks AND good numbers going first if you ride deck Empireo and put some other Levidras from hand for cost. The previous attack pattern can be done on your first g3 turn bc I recently found out an infinity eyes marker on your opponent's board counts as yours, so anotogaste can attack from backrow. I also feel like impauldio and alden got the short end of the stick when it comes to destined one support. Aelquilibra got a Shalhuub searcher which is effectively free, bc putting into soul is just fueling up Aelquilibra's main skill. Odium is getting released and is looking to be a really strong contender, what with its front row pumping, triple drive, and 6 attack divine skill. Levidras got what was stated above, and Lisciafael got a soul toolbox, which can fetch you board pieces you put into soul the previous turn and helps remake boards. Meanwhile Impauldio and Alden get, in essence, baldreid 2 and a limited power buffer, respectively.

From my testing, the new g1 in levidras is the optimal target for foxil, because typically anatogaster swings from backrow first after vg swing, you use the new g3 to clear up space in the backrow by retiring anatogaster after boosting with the g1 and then move it to another circle. It's also your defacto target for power if ever you hit triggers, since it kinda works like a convoluted giunosla from mag. Also they did lascaria dirty wtf is that support man

i was same disappointed on the upcoming lascaria cards; basically a copy of fiore but better. It definitely helps the consistency of the deck, but the issue of the deck is that its gimmick is name locked, so they cant freely use other engines without gutting itself. As long as the play of the deck remains strong (being defensive enough), with time they will get enough good veleno cards i guess to fulfill the attack enough; but i dont think it can defend the most aggressive decks also nightrose is just coming

I get making marginal upgrades for cards like Levidras and Varga, but this set feels like it’s 80% marginal upgrades. Not like Set 4 or set 13 which basically rewrote the format, changed how decks played entirely, and basically introduced a new power level.

Honestly I think DBT07 is a better comparison to this set over DBT13, as both sets don't really have a lot of crazy impactful cards (Sans Tempest) and the decks that got supported got decent-good stuff but nothing revolutionary (besides you know who), granted DZBT05 card quality wise is better than that set. I do agree this set doesn't feel like a finale set, but it might just be the end of a part of the whole story/era of DivineZ which may be the case. DivineZ is likely still going to continue next year (since akina is still shown as the protag for next year's anime arc) and likely will have an actual ultimate finale set to celebrate the end of the DivineZ era at a later date.

A lot of the supports are underwhelming, but I'm still simply happy that Bushi is printing support cards instead of giving us 6 more new decks. If I tell myself some not-so-great support could have been cards for a new rideline that I'm never going to touch even in Dear Days 2, I can see myself being more forgiving towards them. After all, 3 nations are getting a great new boss units for the climax, and DS and Lyrical are also getting something exciting so unless you are a BG main this is still a set you can feel excited about.

For me set 5 is the definition of "Holy mid!" New Razael and Varga have only reinforced that. On one hand I'm happy to have a set where power levels don't change all that much, but also... this is one of the most HYPE sets in terms of actual units. Finally new Eugene, Odium, the Destined King, new forms for the two most popular decks in D and it's all just...! Disappointing. Like it feels like they're in a huge creative slump for these skills. I hope it doesn't last.

The problem with these sort of complains is that the power creep needs to remain balanced, otherwise its just a V series repeat Edit: Argue or change my mind. Because I don't want to descend into an era where its unplayable

The new Liael support was middling, but I feel like people saw "top 5 search" and thought it was a work of art. It really feels like they did not read the card under the context of the deck it was meant for. We're still completely riding off the back of a single RRR card where if they get sneezed at or retired, our entire game plan is in shambles, and our drawpower is gone. We still cannot use half our VG's effects, because dropping our copy of P ride to use as a PG is just such a huge loss in tempo, but almost mandatory if we run out of copies of the card we're riding off the back of in our deck. On the bright side, I love how this set made good use of their RR slots to give a lot of weaker decks some support.
