From the AMA Feb 2021 edition of the Model Aviation magazine, I've started the build of the model on the cover. It's called the Yin-Yang and your video is nothing short of awesome, and because the model doesn't have any rudder control, (it's solid), your video will help me with my dual motor, (one a pusher, the other a puller or tractor as you call it), differential thrust setup. You have helped me more that I can say and I thank you for taking the time to create one of the greatest and easy to follow videos, that I have ever viewed. Again, thanks for eliminating one giant headache for me and at the ripe old age of 82, (just had my birthday in January), the fewer problems I have to solve, the more time I have to enjoy my Golden Years and the RC hobby that I entered into about 6 years ago. THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!

It's an 11 year old foam semi scale kit which was designed for 400 size brushed motors and nicad batteries. My idea was to tart it up a little and over the years I have almost rebuilt the entire airframe, adding retracts, using brushless motors/ ESCs and lipos. as a result it has taken me too much time so far and I have decided that it needs to earn it's keep! Originally the rudders were to be fixed and I had plans to activate them, but the servos and linkages were going to add some unwanted weight at the wrong end of the airframe, so your info should allow me to gain some yaw control. I have connected the tail wheel to the rudder channel and now have the option of adding differential thrust for accurate ground handling/ taxiing. Thanks again.

I am building an RC boat with 2 EDF motors, it's a big boat... I found your explanation very clear and effective and to the point. I followed all of your steps and even made a cheat sheet for myself on how to do it again if I need to. I have one question, that I haven't figured out. Since one motor is connected to the throttle input on the receiver, and the other motor to the Aux1, so when i do "throttle cut" on my DX6, only the motor that is connected to the throttle input gets cut, the other motor still gets power. How can i program another switch to cut that motor that is attached to the Aux1 input on the receiver?

So regular throttle is just both engines. Thats pretty awesome! Anyone that builds their own plane can use that. If you buy a twin engine plane, chances are, it already has a set up in the esc for thrust vectoring. If something happened and you needed to replace the electronics, this would be a great way to set up all new electronics in an older plane that has been sitting that you wanted to upgrade.

Will your differential setup work with my setup? I want the differential to help turn the plane when taxiing only. The water rudder is very inefficient in anything over a 3 mph breeze. Thanks!!

Question as I'm trying to wrap my head around differential thrust (dt). Spectrum radio. #1 is the rudder still used in combination with dt. #2 do you put it on a switch to be one or the other? #3 Rudder always on with dt. on a switch. #3 I think this would be most practical as I don't think I would used it that much other than to do some crazy spins. Thank you for your time.

@@chrisstolle5664 , thank you for checking back. I almost had it. The trick was setting everything at -100%. This mixes throttle against itself. Was used on older radios before throttle cut was available. Your video helped me get up to that point. Thank you.

Nice. I may try the throttle instead of the mixing. I do want channel 6 to be higher though. Ch 6 will be an additional EDF that will be running even when the pusher prop is off and folded back. I need extra umph for a heavy load.
@JoshWeaverRC6 жыл бұрын
Nice. Tied it in. Lowered the travel on Aux1. As I rolled lower than 99 the EDF sped up even with the throttle was off. Then as I hit the throttle it sped up as well. I suppose I could run EDF only and at full throttle either by rolling travel even lower or throttle cut. I would like my throttle to be that roller full time and my pan and tilt to be the left stick.

Do you have any yaw control if you are at full throttle? Still trying to wrap my head around this. Flitetest has a video using 4 mixes, but this works with just 2?
@chrisstolle56646 жыл бұрын
Differential thrust isn't activated by the throttle stick. It is put into action by the yaw stick. throttle and yaw arent fighting each other. As you push the yaw stick away from center, it is throttling up the opposite motor to simulate a rudder. At full throttle, once you push that yaw stick, one motor slows down and the other one stays at full throttle to bring about the yaw action. But at full throttle, even a small input has a huge reaction to the craft. hope this makes some sense.

sounds to me like your differential thrust is counteracting your control surfaces. Reverse the differential thrust numbers in your radio program and see if it clears up. If thats not the problem, try lowering the numbers to give you less differential.
