Hi guys! Welcome to the third day of the series. We have day four already recorded and ready to be posted for tomorrow. However Özlem has sustained an injury that prevents her from recording at the moment (we were planning on filming tomorrow but alas). As soon as she is healthy and fit we will resume recording. Please keep this in mind when you wonder where day 5 and the rest are missing. We will record as soon as possible. Thank you and please enjoy the remaining videos. Appreciate the love and all the comments on our previous BTS videos. 💜 Obligatory copy paste haha: If you are new to our series, just a heads up, all days have been predetermined and or recorded. If you recommend videos for us they will get lost in the comment section but please don’t hesitate to leave them still for potential new army. Just know that it’ll be hard for us to keep track unless it’s on the final day of the series or in our discord server. Thank you so much for your patience! We really appreciate you and let’s have fun over the next few days okay 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Isn't it crazy that BTS HYYH era is what started the whole trend for Kpop to incorporate lore into MVS...like yes Kpop did have storylines already before, but never like this especially never as deep and hard as BTS went. Where multiple MV'S would be connected and even have album notes and a freaking Webtoon definitely KPOP groups never had anyone do any prologues before that looked like mini films ...BTS were ahead of the game that even now groups such as new jeans, enhypen, txt, Aespa, dream catcher, stray kids, etc. are following and Seventeen Hoshi brought this up with yoongi and made him acknowledge the fact that BTS paved the way for various content that groups today follow:)

To answer Esosa’s question about the reception war of hormone had back then: there was criticism, as everything bts does, but that criticism make namjoon take the decision of getting his lyrics reviewed by a women studies professor, most of the hate was undeserved but a few people gave constructive criticism and that’s what namjoon grabbed from the situation and educated himself (like, the world would be a better place if everyone was like this) BUT personally I think war of hormone is really misunderstood, the song is literally about hormonal boys, it says so in the tittle💀 anyways, WOH is a BOP and the bangtan universe? ANGS, I feel so bad about Jin’s character
@meg_dances6235 Жыл бұрын
no actually army didnt think it was problematic we understood that its about puberty and mens first encounter with hormones...but back then bts got alot of hate , antis wrote hate like that spreading rumors and then articles made it an even worse situation so bts was forced to apologize and rm was scarred from it and now takes lyrics about women to a women's studies professor to read over his lyrics 😢
@intshadow Жыл бұрын
@@meg_dances6235 i know about the massive hate by antis but they basically do that on all comebacks, army is a bigger fandom now so is harder for them but still, they are/were messy. Now I realized that the way I wrote it it might have sound like I was trying to say namjoon learned because of the haters but what I mean with “constructive criticism” is that that’s what he took from the women studies professor and he educated himself, now he doesn’t need to get his lyrics reviewed anymore. So, I think that what he did was a good thing but the hate was unnecessary obviously, people just doesn’t understand this song.

@@meg_dances6235 if i may add on, i've been an army since 2013 so i can clearly remember every step of their journey. army was LOVING war of hormone mainly because of the concept change (they were considered 'grown' because mind you they were still doing the school trilogy before WOH) and the lyrics we found funny if anything. it wasn't until like a few weeks/months after its released that antis started blowing the matter up and then later on 'woke' fans started getting on the 'bts is misogynistic' train that bighit and namjoon had to step forward and addressed it. tbh it was never that deep... but you know what, i think it was still a good learning opportunity for bts because namjoon's response about consulting the women's studies professor proved how humble the group is and that they don't treat such matters lightly. i genuinely think it was the moment armys grew to love him and bts even more because it spoke volume of their character. *just to a side note, sooo many similar accusations were thrown at kpop/khiphop artists before WOH and its so normal for there to be no response because i guess if you say nothing you're still considered innocent till proven lol.

@@minholly949 you know what this actually made me remember something!! So thankyou , what I remember is English speaking fans found the lyrics to be fine and more tame then mens lyrics in America about women, and then there was this rumor going around (probably started by antis) that karmy were shocked by the lyrics and that those lyrics meant something else and didn't sound as bad mistranslated in lyrics (even though I knew it was just rumors, that's what I heard spreading around back then!)

I’m so glad that you are doing this! I got into BTS during pre debut when they were releasing cover songs (I got into Kpop in 2009). They actually debuted during the time when all of the new boy groups debuting were doing the rap/hip hop style. So a lot of people were not interested in them and thought that it was a gimmick. What set them apart for me were their lyrics. No one was talking about the topics they were covering. Also, they were actually more popular in the states before Korea. I just wanna add some context to Joon’s verse in Dope (long comment incoming 💀): So for this verse Joon references the various versions of “the given up generation” which is a term that was created to describe the SK millennials. So first it started as 3-po-sedae which translates to the generation that’s given up 3 things (having a family, dating, and marriage), then it evolved to 5-po-sedae meaning the generation that’s given up 5 things (this time adding employment and housing). Basically from the time Dope came out (2015) to now, Korea (just like most “developed” nations of the world) has been experiencing late stage capitalism that has resulted in the younger generations not being able to get jobs, earn a livable wage, buy houses, and start a family with financial security. In his verse, RM calls these names out and then basically says “what? are you going to call us the generation that’s given up 6 things next?” And then goes on to accuse the older generations of Korea and the media for making it seem like millennials aren’t trying and are simply giving up at the slightest brush of adversity. RM is rallying the youth of his generation to not give up, continue to grind for their dreams, and to hang onto their hope as it is what propels their youthful spirit. Unfortunately tho this issue has continued to grow and becomes a serious problem (to the point where millennials are simply referred to as the generation that has to give up everything- including hope). BTS eventually goes on to discuss that in a b-side on HYYH pt.2 called Baepsae.

Thanks for sharing your encounters with BTS, because it really feels to me like you are in fact meeting them for perhaps the first time, and learning a little bit about who they are. The BU is fiction though, and I made a deliberate choice not to go into it too much because I knew I would feel overwhelmed. There is a YT from xCeleste 'explaining' the BU but she makes it clear that she cannot cover all the links or unpick all the connections or the different logics that apply to the timelines. I do think that the over-arching narrative of the BU is masterful, and may even be a masterpiece of short-form film. I love the way that Ozlem has organised a structure for Esosa's journey to catch up with BTS. It is very thoughtful and obviously a great deal of work has been put into it. I think that, while I don;t by any means know all of BTS' work, I am familiar with every song so far, thanks to YT and online friends I have made, but watching them with both of you is just a particular and special joy.

The story is all about 7 friends who’ve got some problem or the other going on in their lives (like Taehyung with his abusive father, Hoseok with his addiction problems and so on). Compared to all of them, Jin is the only one who’s living a relatively easier life. The 7 of them are the happiest when they are with each other. When Jin goes abroad for his higher studies (I think) and comes back, he realizes that the friend group (the rest of the members) are no longer together. Yoongi unalived himself, jungkook died when a car ran over him, Hoseok was in the hospital, no one knew where Jimin was, taehyung was in jail for killing his dad and Namjoon was working odd jobs to make ends meet. After seeing all of this, Jin wishes for a reality where all of them are happy forever and he wakes up the next day with the ability to change realities by shifting through universes. So basically, the Hyyh storyline is all about how Jin is trying to get to an alternate universe where all of them are back together and happy. Which is why the song ‘butterfly’ starts all over again when one of them dies because when that happens then that means that not all of them are together. To really understand the whole Bangtan universe, I really recommend that you read the comic ‘Save Me’ on Webtoon. It’s the official comic on the universe by BigHit and you will completely understand what is going on.

About "War of Hormone": Love this retro look on all the guys but especially on Tae! Oh man, so naughty and playful, he was so cute. The boys were embodying what it was like to be a teenage guy battling with the rush of hormones they had to deal with back then so it's never bothered me. The best part was that once people brought up their concerns about misogynist lyrics they took it to heart and strove to do better. They took the time to reflect and learn from their "mistake" and I respect them so much for that.

Ohhhh Esosa !!!!!! I love how immediately after watching "I need u mv",you just knew this is where the real phenomenon started Thank you for not refraining from showing your true emotions.And BTS DOES THAT!!!Apart from their charm and determination ,the honesty and the authenticity that lies in their music is what really makes the difference. All the eras are so special and holds its own significance ngl.Cant wait to witness how you really take in those moments.Thank you for showing your interest. 💜💜 Also when Özlem stopped you from listening to one of their b-sides ,gurl lemme tell you thats one hell of a masterpiece hope u enjoy the song equally ...wait till you listen to their b-sides🌝🤌. Yes, they bought the place and the country/many countries, but they also bought our hearts. And for those who left the BTS world, I can imagine a scenario where BTS is like, "Oh, I guess we didn't invest enough to buy all of your heart. Let me go do that asap." But even if ex-ARMYs remain ex-ARMYs and investing doesn't work out, more new ARMYs will join. It doesn't matter how many leave and unstan, the main thing that matters is that ARMY stays relevant and true to themselves like BTS is. That way, we can maintain this success and influence for a while even if it isn't reflected numerically (future awards, votes, and stuff) but rather it will be reflected within us (each individual ARMY and ARMY as a whole) as they will always be successful, influential, and relevant to those that care (ARMYs that are here to stay).

I'm loving that Esosa is getting to react to BTS and is loving every moment of it also it's crazy that I haven't seen these MVs in a few years and it's crazy that I still remember these lyrics to these songs. 💜Taehyung is my Bias in BTS/Ult Bias in all of K-pop and my Journey with them started with BS&T and I'm so excited to see Esosas reaction to my favorite song by them. I can't wait for tomorrows video and Özlem I hope your injury gets better.

I can see Esosa biasing Joonie and Tae currently but BTS is tough to decide haha I'm OT7 but the members that I consider most like biases are Yoongi and Tae.

Watching Esosa crying to I NEED U reminds me so much of my own first reaction to it. It was 2015 when I was only a 1-week old ARMY. I was 17. The whole week I've been stanning BTS, I've only heard Dope because it was the song that hook me into BTS. I spent the week replaying the song like crazy, learning the dance, and getting to know who is who from the Dope MV and Bangtan Bombs. I could feel myself getting obsessed, but I was afraid of moving on to another song coz... what if I didn't like their other songs? What if Dope was the only song I'd like? What if I'd be disappointed and no longer interested in this new, shiny hyperfixation I just found? But I made the decision to finally check another song, I NEED U, on my 2nd week of being an ARMY. And boi. Was I SO wrong with my doubt. If Dope was the song that hook me, I NEED U was the song--and the MV--that made me stay this loyal to BTS for 8 years and counting. I was SOBBING. Literally couldn't stop crying for a good 5-10 minutes after I finished the MV. My heart was completely broken seeing these strangers who I've only known for 1 week be so hurt. It was so difficult to see each of them dealing with issues (and were DYING) whenever they were alone. But then, it also felt so freeing and moving when they looked so happy and alive whenever they were together. And... idk. That duality just... spoke to me sm. Because I think the MV captured the essence of humanity. That each of us are dealing with our own problems, but together--especially with the people we love--we can feel okay. Until this day, I NEED U is still in my top 3 BTS MVs and songs. I also remember feeling so nostalgic and angsty when Intro: Prologue came out and found out that it picked up on the I NEED U storyline lol. The HYYH lore was such a cornerstone of my ARMY life back then. I'm so happy Esosa was experiencing it all like I was back then haha.

Guys, do you remember when the vocal line sang Butterfly at the Busan Concert ... and during the musical break JK said that he missed ARMY ... oh my ARMY heartu 💜 from then, whenever I hear Butterfly I am always taken back to the Busan Concert. But like Esosa said, ARMY never had a chance!! They are just so damn sweet, humble, cute, sexy and real!

When Hormone War came out fans were starting to warm up to them. But to be fair back then there were so many boy groups transitioning towards the boy-next-door concept. But it's still good. And thanks to Hormone War, I made one fanfic 😅 It was a long time ago haha

Good job on catching butterfly effect. I am a subscriber now I like you both. Ozlem can sing BTS songs more than me. And Esosa we went through the same pain and shock and amusement. I change my bias every now and them but my ultimate bias is Taehyung but i love each member. I will stand for each of them
