We reminisce of jobs that went a little weird. Getting yelled at to trying to not get caught in the rain. We feel like we’ve seen it all and were going to start telling some of our story’s. Good jobs but some difficult work environments😀

Anyone that has dealt with dementia people knows it’s like dealing with Dr Jeckel and Mr Hyde. It can be funny until the realization of how scary it is for the victim and family. They literally don’t remember doing things and paranoia kicks in. They are afraid and then get angry. I’m glad you kept it lighthearted.

We try. We have found if you don’t feed the conflict(throwing gas on it) most the time it goes by the wayside and you live to contract another day LOL . Humor keeps us from taking it personal. Thanks for the comment.

Oddly enough, I find your stories fascinating and respectful. I never thought you could put pickets on the ugly side of the fence. I may use this for our yard.

Depending on the time of day he seems to switch he might have sun downers with his dementia and it's heartbreaking. He sounds like he's always been a great guy all his life and unfortunately dementia changes a person quickly. I'm glad you've been able to help him and his daughter to hopefully solve issues that can keep him in his home as long as possible.

After years of my neighbor parking his cars on my property I put up a privacy fence . The contractor put the good side facing our yard. The neighbor called the township and the township made us turn it around . Check with your township before you put up a fence . Would have been nice if the neighbor had simply talked to me. He doesn’t like the fence to begin with and won’t talk to me. At least I don’t have to deal with his vehicles anymore .

@@campbellbuilt I have a story for you. My grandma (mom's mom) died at 92, she also had dimentia. My patents moved her from Florida to Indiana to live with them when she was 89. 6 months before she passed my paShip. Also moved my dad's dad in with them. They never wanted their parents to have to go to a nursing home so when they renovated their home they added some extra features like a handicap shower, wider doors for wheelchairs, heat tubing in all the floors to name a few. Anyway 3 months before she passed away my uncle down in Florida died. So my parents loaded up my 2 grandparents in their RV and loaded up my 2 youngest kids and we trekked down to Florida for the funeral. It felt like every few seconds, but was probably closer to every 5 minutes my grandma would ask my mom where we are. I was loosing my mind from it and my grandpa was unamused 20 miles from the house. So I started telling her off the wall things, she wasn't going to remember anyway. One time I told her we where flying, another time I told her we where at home in the livingroom (she said "oh I thought it felt familiar), and then I told her we where in a space ship (she had a period where she worked for NASA)... when I said that one she got a grin on her face and sat quietly for 15 minutes. I think she very much enjoyed her space ship ride. Lol

Thorny trees are usual white locust. Yardwork not fun. I'm old now and use the trunk to help me stand up. Learned years ago to wear heavy gloves and snap them off when small. Deck looked amazing, not bad refencing either.

1) Don't let people distract you when you're working on a ladder, it's rude, and unsafe, 2) don't let people gossip about coworkers to you; stay out of it. A conference room of people gossiped about a receptionist and she walked in on all of us laughing about her.

All all can say the bigger the Private Fence the better you get along with your Neighbor. and Hawthorn bush and a carpet tack strip on the top 2 X4 will keep the little thief's out all so Only need it on just the 1 side.

I never would have dreamed that so many people would have been offended by this. It was just a fence video for us. You are correct in that some client’s aren’t worth the hassle. During our first consultation/estimate with a knew potential client we are interviewing them just as much as there are us. I’ve had a couple clients that when I told them that we wouldn’t be a good fit and it was deer in the head lights. A lot of contractors choose to just not return their call or give them a quote but I made a decision a couple years ago when I’m at the persons estimate to be honest with them and just tell them if I’m interested. Thanks for the comment.

I wish my neighbor knew that you put the “nice side of fence towards the neighbor”... because I look at the “not nice” side every time I go in my backyard. What are those pickets called and approx how much do they cost per piece? I would have to cover about 25-30 feet of the back of my side of fence.

A standing rule of thumb is that homeowners should put nice side of fence out. Unless instructed by the homeowner this is what we would always do.

You cant attach anything to your neighbours fence. It will end up costing you money. You will need to build your own fence and put the nice side in.

Have you heard of a thing called curb appeal? If this fence is visible from the road we would strongly encourage home owner putting the nice side out. That’s the difference between your average contractor and a remodeler/ builder that cares about the finished results and attaching their name to it.

@@campbellbuilt totally agree Ive built a wooden fence all round the sides and back of my property..the ‘nice’ side is facing out so my house looks better..I don’t want people looking at my house and seeing the backside of a fence.
