“Diga Diga Doo” - This painting is named after an amazing exotica song. I urge you to listen to all the different variations of it - see in comments below. A song originally written by Jimmy McHugh & Dorothy Fields in 1928, for the Broadway Musical review “Blackbirds of 1928”. First recorded by Duke Ellington & his Orchestra in 1928. “Diga Diga Doo” became a HUGE hit. 21 bands recorded a version with lyrics. FIFTY Instrumentals were recorded by various famous folk & their… "Orchestras, Big Bands, Jazz Orchestras, Ragtime Bands, Quartets, Ramblers, Low-Jazz Bands, a Generation of Swing, the Charleston City All Stars, Jean “toots” Thielemans, The Varsity Five, the Hot Puppies, The Knights of the Round Table, Riverboat Ramblers, Banjo Magic, The Hot Club of Cowtown, &, of course, "BIG BAD VOO DOO DADDY!" However, in 1960 the great Martin Denny recorded such exotica tunes in Honolulu Hawai'i, in the Kamehameha School Auditorium - for the appealing acoustics.
