In early 90s everything about sound quality of your setup and the size of your speakers. Most of the young crowed not in to indian stuff like now a days MJ , Europe , scorpion, vanilla ice , Milli vanilli are the famous . At that time Rookantha was the only Sri Lankan singer who touch that international quality . This is one of the best example.

Agree with you. My uncle who passed away recently had a collection of old cassettes of MJ, Europe, Boney M, Abba, Gerry Rafferty etc. Only local songs he had was rookantha's, and some songs of the sunflower band.

I’m born in 2002 and part of the dominant generation of the 2020s, I’m not into Indian stuff but it’s the singers and influencers who are making Indian craps and making it mainstream. We are totally disappointed with this as we are not happy, only villagers have the Indian thrill thanks to tiktok. We would also enjoy western stuff if the media made more priority for such, but they didn’t. People born after 2005-2008 onwards would be more Indian than us. Some gode peoples are the ones dominant in media for memes, songs etc…
