Professor, why do arteries have a lot of muscle in their walls, and vains do not, since the heart directly pushes blood into arteries...? It seems to me like veins should be needing those muscles more than arteries because they are further from heart...

Arteries need more muscular tissue because they pump blood at a higher pressure and need to give that force to push it all through the body. If they swapped places veins would burst because of the pressure it receives when the heart pumps
