When I hear people refer to a vacuum cleaner as a Hoover I cringe as Hoover is a trade name which unfortunately has become a byword for vacuum cleaners in general. YET, I sin myself when I see a digger or back hoe I say JCB no matter which company manufactured it. Maybe it's a generational think for old Brits.

Not much progress in 70 years!. It appears the only advances have been in attachments. The backhoe concept remaining largely unchanged since 1953!. I guess construction machinery manufacturers don’t do radical.
