That area really does have the best stuff. It’s just outside the National park.
@1sec2midnight2 жыл бұрын
@@RocksForBrains I've read articles about this area. I've also read articles about how rockhounds used to fill pickups full of the stuff until they made it a National park. It's on my wish list to go there. Just fascinating petrified wood.
@RocksForBrains2 жыл бұрын
@@1sec2midnight oh you should definitely visit. It’s such a cool place. The history of the park is very interesting. There were lots of big logs taken from the area in the late 1800s/early 1900s. Lots of them are in the Natural history museum in DC. The original monument was created in 1906 but the rules were a bit different. There was even a specific are designated as collection grounds by the park where people could collect. 😳

Yay, you guys did another collaboration! I swear that Arizona petrified wood is the most beautiful in all of our states. Yellow Cat from Utah is a close second. The colors are amazing and still being able to see the texture in some pieces is fantastic. Are both of the big pieces from surface picking?😲 Arizona is higher on my bucket list because of this gorgeous petrified wood but so many other incredible rocks you can find there too, plus the warmer weather & sunshine 😊. Awesome video Lauren, thanks for sharing your day and new beauties!✌️🤠🤟

Thanks! The big pieces I found in the precut piles by the main office. You an easily fill a bucket just with that. The digging is fun though! 😁

Oh for sure! I’m hoping to make a channel inlay ring with some of the smaller pieces. 😊

@@RocksForBrains After seeing your video about making rings, I ordered blanks and made a ring with the chalcedony and fire agate I found last year in AZ. It was so satisfying to make the rings out of the rocks that I have found.

That place is amazing, I want to go back. Who did you deal with? There are two sides as far as who you get in touch with, when we were there Rhonda (I think that's her name) was ill and we had a granddaughter who sat out with us. She was fun to chat with. What is your interest with your finds? Tumbling? I like the larger pieces for slabbing, haven't done any tumbling yet. I will be in AZ right after Xmas, either Buckeye or Prescott and I want to set up a dig day with AZ Adventures whom you were with. Beautiful finds, I'm glad you finally got there.

My first attempt was at Rhonda’s place but I couldn’t get a hold of anyone. This place was run by Noah. All his contact info is in the description. I might tumble some of the smaller pieces but I want to cut and polish and make cabs out of the bigger stuff. Julie and Brian are awesome, I hope you can connect with them. 😊

Hi! I'm from the San Carlos Apache tribe and on my reservation I found a pretty big piece(about the size of a 5 gallon bucket)of Az rainbow petrified. The unique thing about my piece is it grew crystals and amethyst inside of it!! It's a one of a kind! I'm looking to get it shaped into a sphere. If you know someone in America that can do it it would be greatly appreciated. Thx much!

That’s awesome! Crystals form like that when there is a void in the wood before it get fossilized. You can try Noah DoBell at 623-219-6996, urdirty@outlook.com.
