Appreciate the explanation on how to get the grade and how to tie it into the road. Have the same problem here in Tx and was wondering how to do that. Grrt Video as always Todd

You 'are' a Laser Level Todd! Hey, any advice for a mindset when one starts 'fighting' a grade? Being new at a Tractor with a box blade I noticed there are some days I can jump on and find that sweet spot. The other day I fought myself to frustration moving and working way too much dirt to accomplish the task I was after. I'm just starting to get the feel of the Tractor tilt and rock and what effect that has on the box blade. Several passes things would be looking good only to destroy it all with one pass! Ha, Lol ! Thanks for sharing Trade Secrets, it makes it fun!

If I get frustrated on a project I stop and have a cup of coffee and think about the project. A box blade is a limited use implement but the more you use it the less limited it becomes. If I'm trying to level with one I find a. Screw with a couple fender washers and a wing nut is handy for setting the drop of the box blade. You may find a different approach works better for you.

@@DaveJohnsonad5nm Hey thanks for the input, it calms my nerves knowing I'm not the only one that has been frustrated moving a grade with a box blade. I only wish I knew what to do with the fender washers, screw and wingnut Dave? Happy Independence Day!

Your control lever for the 3 point hitch. Put a fender washer on the bolt, feed it from underneath add the second washer on top with the wing nut. You set the hight above ground to your level adjust the bolt and washers up to the control lever and tighten the wing nut. Every time you make a pass when you drop the box blade the handle will return to the same level.

I might have missed it, but do you discuss drainage where the road is cut deeper than the sides?
@DaveJohnsonad5nm Жыл бұрын
Slope the high sides and cut the drainage at the bottom of the slope.

What would you all recommend s the best dozer and excavator size to purchase starting out and Dump truck or dump trailer? Thx Looking to do site prep, clearing, small ponds, and possibly starting bidding on trenching for piping and laying fiber for small subdivisions. Thx

Checkout tristar diggin channel. He has a next gen d5 cat dozer and a 313 cat excavator.

Looks good Todd. I have a question, what size bucket are you running on their? I have a CAT 306 and my 2ft tooth bucket is just not great for moving massive amounts of dirt.
