Updates for a long period of time is a HUGE factor when I purchase things like this. It has to be in this digital world.

We rented a digital sd-10 at one of my churches seminars in Minneapolis that was held in the convention center and it was love at first sight. There was nothing I could do on that console that I wanted to do. And it took me literally 10 minutes to learn all the basics of how to operate it . I wish I had more time to spend with it

The SD10 was an exceptional model. It still is, in fact. Very approachable and compact, with almost no limitations. The first Quantum maintained the compact size. I would not particularly enjoy the size of this latest.

Sadly I missed the NAMM show in Anaheim this year so I didn't get a chance to see the new quantums in person. The only way to really get to know a board is to sit down at it and have a go

@@dreammix9430 I’ve been a fan of Digico consoles for over 25 years, coming close to installing a D7 in my remote truck. In that process I had the chance to meet the designer and discuss each other’s work which revealed that there was a shared philosophy about music, about what is fundamental to the job of mixing and how best to support that. They’ve come a long way since but I still see that in their products. I feel even more connected to the SSLs in that way., but they don’t seem to have taken hold of a market.

@@artysanmobile it's so funny you should say that because I was a huge fan of the SSL 6000 series period And I absolutely love that console except for the equalizers I wasn't happy with them because I didn't feel they were musical like the Neve consoles. But I loved everything else about the console. Now that love has moved over to the digital series. I don't know if is there A to D converters or what but they have a nice smooth sound.

@@dreammix9430 SSL does everything well and some things better than almost anyone. Their converters are outstanding and their digital products leave little to be desired. The Live console has suffered a bit of a bad rep for physical breakage on the road. I believe they make the best live mixer in the business. Their software is key for me. I imagine a team is traveling the world to see what’s being done poorly and there is plenty to be found. When a process is fundamental to the job of mixing live, I know SSL will do it with a single brilliant and intuitive move of the hand while everyone else believes the science experiment method is somehow acceptable. Every SSL product I’ve owned or used is in service today whether it is 4 or 40 years old. They are not in the business to lose. I know some of the top management has deep roots in performing music and make their choices from that perspective. Can you tell I love SSL?!
