My '91 Previa is unhackable! There are/were some open source driving-assist projects that mostly made do with the kinds of sensors in every car in the last 10 or so years (but definitely keep those hands on the wheel)

What was the ap that you thought was particularly good - lots of data to see. What was it?

She said it was “Car Scanner ELM ODB2” but I looked it up and don’t see anything about compatible adapters. It’s like they are always glossing over the most important part. I already have BlueDriver and Google’s AI synopsis tells me it’s not compatible but it’s frequently wrong about these things and I can’t find where it’s getting that from.

Don't connect cars to the Internet. Would you connect a Windows95 PC? There is no intrinsic security in car electronics. Manufacturers work hard just trying to meet regulations. CANbus is certainly not secure. Intrinsic trust exists to all connected devices. The less sophisticated LINbus is more secure because connection doesn't automatically provide control. Control is by a busmaster which is "electrically" fixed. It must be killed to take over the bus. Most plausible attacks on the master will also kill all the other devices on the bus.
