It's not Gabumon its the Virus type Psychemon which only looks like Gabumon, but is actually unrelated, that's why he evolves into Astamon

Psychemon for rookie. Gururumon for Adult/champion (It's Garurumon but white). Astamon for ultimate. Belphemon SM for Mega.

@ShironTheWindragon Psychemon is an old digimon just like Gabumon, just an alternate sub especies, like Goburimon or SnowGoburimon, he was even in Digimon World 1 game, the first Digimon Psx game like 10 years ago or more.

@ShironTheWindragon Astamon appeared like on 3 gen, but Psychemon and him were not related until now, there's a lot of digimons with unknow digievolutions, like Impmon, who can directly evolve into Beelzemon, but their two forms as champion and ultimate were added in Digimon Masters Online, maybe the digivolutions just depends on the game, or anime, also if this one were gabumon and not psychemon, maybe he will not be able to evo into garurumon, just because he lacks of the crest of friendship.

@XprinceofbritanniaX Yeah, in the first season, Damemon's actual form was Tswarmon, Damemon was a disguise generally. However, Damemon was reborn as Damemon, he can';t change into Tswarmon at will, because he's just been reborn, so has to digivolve with assistance from Yuu.
