8:59 I remembered that I also needed a Japanese map although it was for the Ice Palace in Persona 1's Snow Queen Quest since that place is probably one of the worst maze dungeons out there. 14:34 The most popular origin story for Ganesha's elephant head was that Parvati had Ganesha on guard duty to make sure no one would come to see her bathe but when Shiva came and wasn't allowed to get past, Shiva would fight Ganesha and sever his head and Parvati was distraught by this so to help Ganesha come back, they needed to find a new head and what they found was an elephant head. Ganesha is probably one of my favourite Hindu deities since I do worship Him but I do admire Him as the remover of obstacles as well as the fact He really likes Indian sweets like Laddus. 19:34 I am currently playing Gran Turismo 4 and it has something called the license tests to help teach you driving techniques but getting all gold requires lots of patience and precision like these field hunts. I think one test took me more than 3 hours to gold. 30:55 Persona 1 also has a pitfall maze in the form of the Kama Palace which can be painful to explore without a map and guide and because of story reasons, you have to go through there twice.

Now heat can use End of he World In the psp port of persona 1, theres an additional dungeon, the alaya ruins, where in one floor, you have to guess the right trap to fall down or go up again. And yes, the encounters are on. And then theres of course whatever the final dungeon in the snow queen quest is

This game is going faster than i thought. Even if it's part of a duology this is rather quick. Man once you get the top tier mantras you're op. I can see why you're excited for that upcoming JRPG. Oh sweet lucifer. That mitama fight was on Estelle fishing levels of frustration

One of the things that makes field hunts annoying is that while Serph _can_ attack while moving, the glowy demon orb things are solid. You have to time your attacks _just_ right so that the orb is gone before you run into it and stop, or else you get slowed down a lot. The camera controls also don't lend themselves well to time-critical stuff. The best thing I can think of doing is using the quick 90 degree turn (hold circle and press L1/R1) but you still waste time looking around for the next orb if you don't memorize where they all are.

This is all probably why they got changed in DDS2 so that you no longer need to destroy ALL the orbs. The Mitamas just stay longer the more orbs you get.

One thing that makes this bearable is that these teleporters/sideways pitfalls cannot immediately toss you into another teleporter/sideways pitfall.

i didn't have that much trouble with the karma temple warp mazes. it's probably one of the more bearable warp puzzles in megami tensei imo. because the warps are almost always gonna send you to an adjacent hallway, it's a lot easier to guess where you'll end up regardless if you end up in the right or wrong place. it's actually kinda surveyable unlike most warp puzzles. if there are no adjacent hallways, it's pretty obviously a pitfall. maybe soul hackers 2's soul matrix just made me more tolerant of this dungeon cuz while the soul matrix is more bland design-wise, it leans way heavier into warp mazes. it's to the point where i just save before going into a warp and seeing if it's takes me back to the beginning or not.

Yeah to be fair, this was my first SMT warp maze. I'm sure if you've experienced Strange Journey, the older games, or apparently Soul Hackers 2, this isn't too bad.

The worst parts are: it has one of the most infamous bosses in the game, and it's not even the final dungeon. Far from it, there's actually THREE dungeons after it, four in the true endings of Redux.

Eridanus is definitely tough to get through, but the satisfaction after you do is insane. Really, most of the SJ dungeons aren't *that* bad, its mostly just long corridors. The snappy controls and quick combat help a lot in getting through them fast. The most ridiculous dungeons I've gone through is either YHVH's dimension in SMT4 Apocalypse (just kinda long and boring with spongey enemies) or the final one in that Touhou fangame that is basically one step removed from classic SMT. I recommend the vid Marsh made earlier this year for that one unless you wanna play it on your own.

Oh god (appropriate) YHVH's Universe. That place sounds awful. But yeah, Strange Journey sounds interesting and I probably need to play it someday. I've only watched speedruns. (Which are nearly 12 hours... PinkPajamas' commentary is worth it.)

I’m doing a Rex character analysis. One of things I feel that people don’t get about Rex is that, what made him the true driver the Aegis was his ability to give Pyra and Mythra what they needed in their lives: hope. My main argument for Rex as a main character is that Rex is Hope to everyone around him. Not just Pyra and Mythra. To me, that was the purpose behind the start of Chapter 7. 19:50 Cluster F bomb much?

Honestly, it's part of why I have very strong opinions about THAT photo from XBC3 since it completely misses the point of Nia's character arc. Her arc was all about finding people who would accept her no matter who she was, and she did find that, even if it wasn't romantic. So to basically throw that away to make her a harem girl feels almost insulting. (Not helping my opinion is how......overbearing Rex/Nia shippers can be sometimes)

I see your point HolyAlondite, but the main reason I'm personally okay with the heavily implied Rex/Pyra/Mythra/Nia polycule in XB3 is that 2 already heavily implied it via its postgame ending screens. I used to not ship it, but now that it's canon I feel it's actually not that bad. It's also not just a simple harem because Nia is implied to also have some feelings for Pyra and Mythra. Rex/Nia was a weird journey for me that I might talk about if I stream XB2. The tldr is, I shipped them in Chapter 1, dropped it once I saw Rex/Pyra was clearly going to be endgame in Chapter 2 (plus Rex's chemistry with Pyra was good), literally laughed out loud when Nia confessed much later on ("wait, the thing I almost shipped but didn't is one-sided canon?!"), still didn't ship it... then saw the photo in 3 and now it's canon I guess I do ship it now. I also like it a lot more than Melia's feelings for Shulk, because whether you ship it or not Nia's feelings for Rex help her development (it says a lot that someone who starts so cynical falls for such an idealist), while the Shulk Melia thing was just a dumb love triangle that didn't need to exist and shippers of it can get crazy.

@@BigKlingy True. I can definitely give it that much. Nia's feelings definitely play an important part in her arc and I have no problems with her having feelings for Rex. It's very specifically the harem thing that I dislike. (As for the postgame end credits, while I do understand the point, I also have heard fairly consistently that they weren't exactly a thing at first and were added in later after fan demand.)

@@BigKlingy I personally saw that moment in Chapter 1 with Rex and Nia as learning to be friends, not something romantic, like how Pyra and Rex were demonstrated being early on. It only felt like Nia was beginning to have feelings for Rex, literally just before she reveals her Blade form.

I noticed a lot of the later field hunts depend on you knowing where the tracks are, and some of them being RIGHT BEHIND YOU, or on a trail you've been to before, when it was seemingly established that they wouldn't respawn there!

I actually have no idea what these Demons are, canonically. Maybe a bunch of feral ones stuck here, or... yeah I'm actually not sure. The minibosses are Karma Temple guardians. Even though most other countries, including the other ones that speak English use the Metric system. 14:37 Also a Shadow I shook down for max money in Persona 5 Royal, Since they would give over 20000 every time you ask for money, which the Sun Confidant allows you to do multiple times, they had a lot of HP you I could knock them down twice an average to get more money, So you could say that they where like a Ganesha Bank 16:29 It would be cool if a bit dickish if the amount of Cells you well sell would affect the strength of the games mini-bosses, since their boss has more information on how you fight she could prepare them with countermeasures. 24:18 It’s weird to me to see a single target Almighty magic attack in general, but especially magical ad the only one I know, Friekugal is physical based. Otherwise it’s an element that is over wise multi target magic And in general, it’s weird for me to use Almighty in a lot of games since I just don’t like using it, it tends to be very expensive compared to regular magic, tends to have no Boost and Amp skills to increase its damage So I find that I’m dealing more damage with Surt and Norn against most enemies in versions of Persona 3 than with Almighty, while not being part of the One More/Press Turn system since I cannot hit a weakness, hence unless the enemy has no weaknesses/has a boatload of resistances I feel I get more jist hitting a weakness. And with most fights, you can find a magic element that isn’t Almighty that works well to damage them even if you do not a weakness. Not to say I cannot find use in them, Fires of Sinai is a good burst damage option for example but I don’t tend to build a team with one in mind. Something I find with Physical Almighty is that I feel it has more advantages over its main counterpart, unless we have separate Boost and Amp skills for both, which we don’t always have, the fact that Physical Almighty cannot be blocked while still having the possibility to critical gives it a strong advantage that magical Almighty doesn’t always have. 24:25 Single target magic in Persona, while not being used with the same advantage of avoiding losing press turns is still something I recommend you shouldn’t get rid off and become annoyed at seeing people get rid off, not only do you have no chance of hitting an immunity but it is also more cost effective, especially when it comes to bosses and single enemies when your spending more SP/MP/EP for no additional bonus, even when the other enemies don’t absorb/immune to it. While hitting a Null, Repel or Absorb doesn’t have the same issues as it would in a press turn game, and in the late game the issue becomes less apparent, but even then it hurts your ability to take down any enemy that absorbs that element.

@@BigKlingy I would guess it's because you can unequip counter skills in this game, whereas in Nocturne you could only permanently forget them (and only when a new skill was being learned).

I always keep a single-target and a multi-target skill on my Demons/Personas just because I've trained myself to be extra SP/MP conscious in games where you can't heal magic nearly as often or efficiently as HP. Multi-targetting magic skills tend to cost over double the MP/SP of single-target skills and so if there's only one or two enemies weak to a given element it's usually more cost-effective to use one or two casts of single-target spells than one cast of a multi-target spell. This also tends to be why I kinda hate severe-tier spells in post-P4 MegaTen games since they consistently cost way too much for the damage they deal in return even after buffs and boosts. Single-target physical skills, though? Literally everything in these games has a basic attack function. It often won't do as much as a skill but it also costs nothing. It's not uncommon for my runs of Nocturne to have physical Demi-Fiend only using his basic punch Attack for half the game until I start unlocking the good shit like Divine Shot.

The Severe skills in P4 are pretty awful, I believe it's over double the SP cost for a tiny boost in power vs Dyne. In 3 they were a lot stronger, not sure if Reload nerfed them. The Demi-Fiend's basic punch WAS pretty useful for much of my run. Although there's quite a few single-target physical skills in MegaTen that are great, mainly the high-crit ones. I'm getting a lot of use out of Kresnik's Brave Blade in V.

@@BigKlingy The severe spells are definitely strong in Reload but they still cost between 46-48 SP without Spell Master, which is still way too much considering Concentrate is another 30 in that game. I haven’t done the exact math on damage-to-SP cost ratio but I think it still works out to where unless you have Spell Master then Concentrate + Dyne/Aon spells with a Boost and Amp will just be more efficient.

0:32- I get why, but it kind of sucks when a super boss's instant cheese measures are easy to accidentally trigger. Remember having issues with that with team building for IV's Fiend Fights and always worrying about if the one or two members who don't null each bosses' main element dies, it just goes into Almighty spam. 19:33- RIP Klingy's sanity. 19:50- Uncensored Klingy F-Bombs just show how seriously annoying these hunts have pushed him... Not even *Sun Door 2* of all things did that! ... Just how awful are these late game field hunts?! 20:58- You also know if it gets bad when the LPer/Streamer needs to bring up a walkthrough mid recording/stream. Seriously, what the actual hell are these late game field hunts?! 31:22- Yeah. For the most part it's not outright maddening, more annoying, but the first or second layer of the Womb of Grief was particularly evil with doing that kind of stuff. 31:38- Okay, real talk about Sector E; It's not nearly as bad, at least not until that top left portion in my opinion. I actually got through that area fine until I got to the teleport maze at the top left, but not because I was lost, but to check to make sure I didn't miss any loot. And then that cause me to learn that this place is supposed to be the infamously bad dungeon and then I started having a bad time since all those complaining pricks jinxed me in having issues there. Sector E is honestly well designed outside of the major since you tackle the dungeon in four chunks for that main floor and it's not too bad to manage that. Besides the maze, maybe some of the sub floors and the pit falls that drop you into the bottom right are annoying, but other than that, fairly manageable and I would say Sector G is more of a pain to get through. In other news, a very busy day as you can tell by this shorter comment. But before the busy day, A LOT of progress in Vengeance as I've gotten done another major arc for the game. Can't disclose much due to reasons, but what I can say is how Vengeance continues to greatly deliver in spite of some gripes that I know only bother me more than it does others. Outside of that, the game continues to be great. Before I continue onto more major matters, going to do some clean up for side quests, including a side quest fight that's proving annoying, less so for difficulty, but more so finding an efficient way of doing it.

0:32 The superboss of DDS2 is a lot nicer. He doesn't kill you for having immunities, his first attack just nullifies them. He'll only kill you if you try using a Repel shield DURING the fight.

I do prefer it when that is very obvious like having an ability or item that makes you immune to everything or using an attack that does maximum damage. When trying to do something so precise like those field hunts, you just got to keep cool, which seems to be helping with the license tests. They can be nice to have around just so you don't forget anything important. I remember that Strange Journey has that first person perspective dungeon when exploring like Persona 1 but Persona 1 has more simple dungeons for the most part except if we are talking the Ice Palace. Great to hear that you made tons of progress with Vengeance and I wish you more luck moving forward including with that sidequest. As for myself, I have started the IA License with the first play session seeing me get gold on the unrequired coffee break as well IA-1 to IA-4. The next play session I got gold for IA-5 to IA-10. That means only 6 tests left but IA-15 is still lurking. These tests were no walk in the park but with enough attempts and a bit of patience, I can get the gold. For the Engage randomizer, we had the border map where the King, or more like Queen, of Brodia Anisse gets captured by Elusia's king but we need to fight off Lapis first. We also get Durthon on this map who is a mediorce Lance armour. For the cathedral, Sean and his retainers were still no match for our group but we find out that Anisse has not only become a corrupted but also has become Anna and we find out the King of Elusia was Morion of all people. By the way, some other things this randomizer has done was randomize the clothes and mounts of everybody and it seems the game really likes giving the Sage outfit to a lot of people but also the shopkeepers were randomized and the person at the boutique is Corrupted Morion who probably got corrupted because of all of the swimsuits on sale. We defeat Morion but I will also reveal who Veyle is in this playthrough and that is Goldmary which means her and Rosado are siblings in this playthrough. The next map we lose the Emblems but we also find out who the Hounds are and they are Yunaka as the leader alongside Jade, Tetchie and Bunet. I don't know how to feel about Bunet being a villian to be honest. Luckily we get help as Lapis and her retainers, Clanne and Marni, got two rings and helped us escape. Clanne replaces Kagetsu and is also a Swordmaster but his stats aren't as good but having Instruct as a personal is pretty strong. Marni replaces Zelkov and is a Lance amour which is pretty normal for her. She would be fine to use but Lindon seems to be my brother's preferred armour to use. Lapis is something in this playthrough as she is a Lance Fighter with mediocre bases and not great growths. Also not helping is she is good with magic but she has no tome proficiency and we can't get tome proficiency until Micaiah or my brother decides to play the DLC maps and get Veronica. Next will be the Solm arc and we have a preview of Fogado's squad which should be fun to talk about next time. One final thing to mention is that my brother also revealed who the Fell Xenologue units were. For the Winds, we get Merrin, Boucheron and Jean. Boucheron is pretty good since he starts as Wyvern but that might be too basic for this randomizer. For Nel and Rafal, Nel was replaced by Panette who has Alear's class and has really good bases and growths so my brother will probably use her when she feels less overlevelled. Rafal is Hortensia which means all of Hortensia and her retainers are siblings in this playthrough. She is an archer that is also good with magic so my brother won't be using her but she is good with the Radiant Bow. I have also been watching my brother play more Hitman and he dubs it as his chill game as thinking about how to make Lapis work is more stressful for him than playing Hitman which is funny. He did everything he wanted in the second mission so he can start working on the third mission in Morocco.

@@BerserkerRohan Agreed, when it's obvious there'll be a punishment for trying to cheese a super boss fight it becomes much more fair. Agreed with needing to keep your cool, bit even so, some of those demands to do that field hunt perfectly are utterly absurd. If it makes Klingy drop a F-bomb Cluster Strike, you know it's bad. True. Thank goodness for guides. Yeah SJ/SJR has the first person perspective of the older SMT games. Also yeah, some of the dungeons in that game can be complicated (or more annoying than need to be because of invisible floors later on). Many thanks. Best of luck to you as you continue through the IA License races. Took me a minute to remember who that was as I didn't care much for the shop keeps in Engage, but funny seeing her being the Merchant Queen of Brodia. Okay, even more shop keeps allying with Brodia in this run. So the villains somehow turned a grown woman into a tiny child when effectively zombifying them... Okay, I guess it's tied to them both being merchants I guess. Also Morion's evil too this run? Given how the two shop keeps were in Brodia, I'm starting to think most of the OG Brodian Royal Family were ousted by the Merchant class; No wonder why they're aiding Sombron in this fan-fic universe if they're understandably bitter about being usurped. Xp Also Corrupted Morion being a shop keeper reminded me how at the end of Shaun of the Dead, they get the zombies to do menial tasks as they recover. Goldmary is Veyle is an interesting change... On one hand, kind of cute how she and Rosado are siblings this run, but on the other I fear how *some* people will react to an evil/corrupted Goldmary if they ever hear about this run. Weird, thought Yunaka was Sombron; Must have been mistaken earlier. Her being Zephia's certainly a choice as well. Jade being a Hound only adds to my crackpot theory about the Brodians being displaced, Tetchie is just the token villain the big bass just drafted off the streets, and Bunet has become evil for everyone clowning on him; Noted. And of course Clanne comes to save the day on this map like he did for Klingy. Sucks he might not be used. Same with Marni not being used given my growing attachment of her. Also good to see the Fell Xenolouge bolster the ranks for some good unit choices. And also nice some group in Engage gets to stay together after a couple of Blue Lions either not showing up or dying in the last Rando. Yeah that's certainly an amusing scene/thought of Agent 47 just talking about how he's going to plan out his runs once he gets back home as he casually murders dome people. Without a doubt that would be quite a session to watch. Hope the third mission goes well for him too.

@@jaredfayette2567 Having a reference on what to do for something so precise does really help. That and you have random encounters to potentially worry about as well so SJ can sound challenging sometimes. I thought saying their without the context would be funny. It seems like the Kingdom of Might has become the Kingdom of Money now. Corrupted Morion doing that does sound pretty accurate. It will depend on how people feel about Goldmary normally since her reception does seem very mixed. To clarify, where you normally recruit Yunaka, we got Sombron and now Zephia's role has been replaced by Yunaka. Speaking of Sombron, you can change his clothes in the boutique which goes about as well as you expect. I can see you using Marni in this run especially considering her random growths are solid for an armour. Despite how serious of a game it seems, it does have some wacky moments that my brother showed me.
