In Brazil games and consoles are really expensive, people from other countries can afford to buy both physical and digital editions of the same game, but here, having money for 1 copy is a luxury, so I always get the physical one, leave it on the shelf as part of the collection , I can sell it if I don't want it anymore, exchange it for another game, I have total freedom. But in the digital field, you don't own the game, you bought an access license, and the company can remove games from your library that it decides to no longer host on the server, or close the server, or even worse, change the game's content like what they did with Stelar Blade and Skullgilrs, digital is not owning what you bought.

For me the great advantage of having a physical copy is the ability to share with a second player in the house. No way am I lending my Switch to my kid. Also I tend to play with a game until I'm done with it, so I'm ok with a cartridge. Also, you can sell or trade a game you played and don't want to keep. The prevalence of digital is because of convenience and the assumption of parity. (Even those who attack others assume the game is going to be around. It is only once the game they just putchased disappears or is completely altered that they will realize the issue.) But there isn't parity and the prevalence of digital (and online access in general) has encouraged more bad behaviour like those incomplete products that don't work on launch and require patches. Or 'physical' games that are merely the downloader for the actual game. While I do prefer physical and having that shelf of games. I am not opposed to digital, were countries to correct this absolutely absurd view of digital games and film. It is an erosion of property rights, and unchecked will spell a very undesireable future for all of us, even outside of games. That said, I believe that if studios and online store fronts try to abuse this unreasonable status, someone with money will eventually sue, and it may not be upheld because even as a contract this 'non-purchase' claimed as a 'purchase', does not seem to meet the basic requirements of a contract. If you don't own the game, you are renting it, 1. if you are renting it then it must be advertised as such and purchasers need to know in order for the contract to be valid. 2. If the consideration is not defined (and subsequently, again, understood) then the contract is likely unenforceable. So you buy a game and you get temporary access to it. How long is the access for? Say, a court says it must be "Some thing reasonable", How long is reasonable? Even then the companies will still run into trouble. And they haven't abused it yet (to my knowledge) but they absolutely can and will, once people start "getting comfortable with not owning their games" (Which again, is absolutely preposterous and the idea of an inability to own things breaks capitalism so fundamentally that the results will be distopian).

Physical all the way! At least that's what I believe, but found myself buying many digital without even thinking about it. And now it almost keeps me up at night to realize I could lose thousands of dollars of games if they deleted my Steam account. GOG is better - when they have the games - because you can download and archive DRM free copies. Funny story about Day 1 patches... I remember when Ultima IX shipped with so many bugs most players couldn't even finish the game. The internet was not widespread then, so they actually ~mailed a new install disc~ to every customer. Think I still have mine :D (And didn't change that it was an awful game that ruined the once-great Ultima series forever)

I buy physical games because I don't want them to have the same destiny as movies and music, where a physical release is just an overpriced novelty these days. Still, that's kind of happening with Limited Run games.

Basically only play on PC these days so not much of a choice.

I'm more digital these days. I don't like clutter and having to get up and put things away. Doesn't matter if its console or now PC, I just choose digital every time. GOG is my preferred digital store over everything else simply because you actually own games via access to offline installers.

It doesn't even matter anymore when most modern games suck to me anyway. They all follow the same bulshit trends. So Physical retro games are my choice.

Microsoft took a game off my Xbox one literally less then a week of having it, I hardly even got to actually sink my teeth into the game. When they took off my account they gave no explanation at all and no refund. I went to the digital store to see if the game was still on the store. It was still available on the store and they're asking me to buy it twice... Ever since then I've fallen back to my PS3/2 and my switch, and I'm strictly only going to buy physical. Xbox can go screw themselves, and I know Sony has been flirting around with doing this as well so I have trust issues with them... At this point the only place I might pick up a digital game is from steam and GOG because I know unlike Sony and Microsoft i believe Gabe Newall and GOG are professional enough to not sneak into my game library and take something off my account... Even then I'm gonna be sticking to indie games on my PC for 5-10 bucks.

Digital is more convenient but physical is more authentic that’s how I see it! You’re so beautiful 😊 awesome job on this video!
