SID Guts isn't digital, the Commodore 64 had an analogue synth on a chip built in, that's kind of the point to why it sounds like it does. Might be good for chip tune, but definitely not digital sound source.

Oh wow! Just googled to verify and it looks like you're completely right. Thanks for letting me know! Guess I'm not hearing aliasing after all then :')

@@angeloboltini no problem. I built an MB6582 SID synth so got pretty familiar with them. Keep thinking about picking up a Sid guts so appreciated hearing what it’s like.

The original SID chips were hybrid (analog audio core, digitally controlled). However, SID Guts can also use SwinSID, a digital SID emulation recommended by the manufacturer due to much better thermal and power specs when running inside a modular case. I wonder which SID are we hearing in this video.

@@dans.8198 Am I right in thinking the SwinSID does not have a filter? Although it’s not known as the best analogue filter in the world it can be a bit part of the sound. Perhaps less needed in a eurorack socially or module where you would likely patch in a better filter anyway.
@dans.81982 жыл бұрын
@@mentataudio The SwinSID has a lowpass filter, but according to the features list it has a different character than an original 6581, sounding more like a 8580. Note that I have only used original SID chips in actual C64 computers. I am all for the 6581, but YMMV. I never used SwinSID.

Thank you. Something in your presentation gives me a useful sense of what to expect of these modules.

Looks like you're right! I'm not very up to date on 80s computers, it turns out :') Thanks!

Thanks for this. I'm wondering where you get your intro jam drums from. I'm not too familiar with the modules on the bottom right of your rig, perhaps it's there ? Or maybe outside your rig ?
@angeloboltini3 жыл бұрын
Heya! I had to look up my Logic project real quick, but the intro jam is all modular. Looks to be the 2hp kick for, well, kick, and Dinky's Taiko and uPlaits for percussion. Top left is my drum corner.

Not trying to be an ass, I’m curious how a guy with 300 followers got Klavis to send him a module to review? I’ve never heard of this guy and honestly he lost all credibility to me as soon as I saw the Behringer case. Klavis, if you are reading this, I’d be more than happy to demo some of your modules, I’ll even make a video where your module is the center of attention instead of sharing an 11 minute video with other makers.

For not trying to be an ass, you sure did a good job of being an ass.

1. You have absolutely zero videos featuring gear or your knowledge of how to use it. 2. What's wrong with the GO case? It's the best bang for buck case on the market.
