Could you please do videos for beginners who have not yet succumbed to GAS (gear acquiring syndrome)and so only have one lightsource such as, let's say a 60cm by 40cm softbox?

What if you dont have either the octobox or large wall,but do have a pair of flashes with brolleys?

nice video, but you should also do a video for group shots for people that... dont have a 25ft room studio or lamp/light sets up except for a flash... =P the only thing i can think of is just set ur camera to F8+ and have steady hands =D

Would love to see an example using shoe mounted or off-camera flash bounced off the wall or ceiling and how the distance affects the light.

How about using speedlights? Is it possible to get the same amazing results? Thanks.

HI, I can see that you are using quite heavy set-up on your Benro tripod. How it behaves with that heavy gear? How would you rate is as a travel tripod for D3 and 24-70 f2.8?

I would really like to see how a professional would light a 300 member marching band group shot where they are lined up on the bleachers in a gym with speedlights. I'm supposed to do that in a few days and I'm a little panicked about it. I haven't been able to find a good video on that large of a scale. Does anyone know if three speedlights will be enough?

What if someone was wearing glasses? Would you just raise the light higher? Or go to 2 lights on either side?

Is it possible to use speedlight flash?
@Laclaustra
@Laclaustra 13 жыл бұрын
@naignik It will be the same thing, a speedligth is about 90-100 W/s so you'll need 3 or 4, similar as he as he did with the novatron. You may have to shoot, a larger aperture though. Always watch the aperture for DOF on groups. Also the farther the light the smaller relative to the subject so the harder it is, on the wall is no big deal but the Octa, if you have no walls to bounce or anything might get hard shadows.

we must be talking about quantity of light vs quality? Further away smaller the light, less soft?
@shadow479
@shadow479 11 жыл бұрын
yup, but you'll need more power as you get more far away...I just have a external flash, I would need more flashes to fire simultaneously at that distance and because of the size of the octobox.

what about group shots that have impact? like dramatic group photos. Because doing easy group photos are too easy, and look kinda bland.

The key here is actually making sure the single light source was far way so you get the even spread
