MTV wasn't ever censored up until everyone and their dog had cable and later satelite - maybe around 2000(ish). There used to be a time when instead of bitching about everything, people just shrugged it off and moved on, considered the source, changed the station/channel, etc.. Now everything offends someone, it seems. I wonder how long it will take people to again realize that you cannot appease everyone, so people might as well toughen back up move on. Someone will inevitably be upset about something. It's just the nature of the game.
