Not arrogance in down grading Superman and other heroes, actually it's like when some people say that India is the best country due to its ancient culture; despite all it's flaws and limitations when compared to developed nations. What he actually means here is that Indian concept of yogic superpower is much more ancient and preestablished concept unlike the other heroes and is not new and freshly brewed.
