I never did a short set. I did 12pm till 6pm for my event I did for a adult bbw expo 3 years ago. SO I totally will be doing short set real soon if I get that chance. Keep up the work for bringing great tips. Funk Up Salute

For mix out points, it is good to use "memory cues" instead of hot cues. Sometimes the club will have older CDJs that only show 3 hot cues.

For rekordbox: make sure install drivers, check if any tracks are missing and if playing by laptop make sure to have a usb back up.

I thought I was doing wrong when hot cueing my mix out points after seeing many DJs using Hot Cues to create new stuff or some using only one hot cue on each song.

I hope this helped you.

All my gigs have been 1 hour sets for 20 years. Long format sets are more for bar DJs in my part of the world

It's different everywhere, for sure!

Never had a short set unless it was for a show. Other wise 6-8 hrs is the norm in New York. Can't speak on any place else.

If you play in a DJ/artist lineup... 1 hour is common.

@@JeremyDahl yep, I know. I don't do them. Like I said only for a show and I haven't done a show in decades. Yep u read that right decades. Lol, I prefer the marathon gigs, so much more fun for me. Like I said 6 to 8 hrs. But I grew up in a era where 8 to 10 hrs was the norm. In the 80's and 90's. Been doing this a long time. But thanks for the input. Cheers.

@@sinistai.z.3622 Yeah same here. I left the scene for a while and when I started seeing these dj's gigging for like an hour or two, I didn't get it at first. I also was used to the 8 hour jams. In fact, I don't think I ever did one of those show sets.

@@DJActionVasquez yeah, I don't mind a show set if they are going to pay my price other wise I leave them alone. Way to many headaches if your not properly compensated. So your not missing anything. But, the scene has changed alot, DJ's have agents, it's a whole thing. Just so different from the 80's and 90's. Those were the golden years to me. But it's all good plenty of opportunity to make a boat load of cash cause alot of these young guys are clueless. But anyway thanks for the input. Cheers.
