It's a no-brainer for a band with four members (with smartphones). I think that is the reason why this was invented. As for the naming, VRC-1 is the letter & ciphercode, Aerocaster is the type of product. As in Boss DD-3T, DD-7, DD-200 and DD-500, all Digtal Delay. And both BD-2 and BD-2W are both Blues Driver. More like this: GGS-5 & GGS-8: Gigcaster.

While I'd love to, it;'s not a good use of my time as 99.9% of our audience will not want or need a studio like that! But just FYI, we use a mix of Blackmagic Pocket 6K cameras, Sony Alpha DSLR cameras, an ATEM Pro Extreme switcher (you can see it in this video), Aputure lighting, and all the usual Manfrotto-style clamps, stands, mounts, overhead booms etc, plus Rode Wireless Go 2 mics. Hope that gives a bit of insight! :)

Great video! One question. Could I hook this up to my Universal Audio Apollo audio interface to play the sound from my DAW software?

@Digital DJ Tips I figured it out. Basically, you just need a line in to split 1/4 audio cable. Plug the 1/4 cables into the line out of the UA Apollo and the 3.5 mm end into the line in of the Aerocaster. Then, adjust the volume on the aerocaster mixer section and headphones out and it works.

Not that we've heard of - that sounds like an issue with whatever you're using as a camera rather than the Roland unit.

I used Rode UNIFY streaming software and connected the PC to the AeroCaster via Line In, and everything played well. However, I noticed that when I speak into my Rode microphone through UNIFY to the AeroCaster Line In, my voice isn’t coming through the Line In channel. Everything else works perfectly, except for my voice. Any idea what I might be doing wrong or what I can check?

Would love to see how that compares to the blackmagic atem mini since the smaller one is quite similar in price of the roland unit. I read somewhere in the comments that you use blackmagic atem pro so I guess you have quite the insight into the software. Also does the roland one work with normal webcams+obs as well if you are not an apple user?

The Roland unit will work as an audio interface with Windows etc, but for video functions you need the iPad and the iPad app. No, doesn't work with normal webcams. Blackmagic ATEM Mini is roughly the "laptop" version of this (but with wired cameras), Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro can go live to the internet without a laptop at all (although you'll still need a computer to open the control panel to do a lot of things you'll need to do).

The main difference and huge difference I'd say is that the Roland unit uses cell phones and cameras... The atem, that's a more difficult process.

You can go live with this without using other software as Roland provides that for you. IRig Stream is an audio interface and you do not need it if you have this. If you want to go live from an iPad you will need some kind of software

I think this is really a great device, I would have preferred if it could livestream in its own and I guess that's where ATEM is unbeatable... it has no dependencies... (PC/MAC or any device)

Yes, ATEM is certainly cool for that (that is exactly how we use ATEM) - but then again, as you're using the iPad anyway...

@@digitaldjtips I've custom setup my ATEM with Macros, run all the tests once... don't have to touch it ever again. I have a 7" monitor (via HDMI) for preview and that's all... one touch button and I'm live. Atem rocks... if I could pick one downside it's the unbalanced audio... :)

Thanks for the vid. May l ask a question? On the app can one customise to include lower thirds and other graphics? This looks like a wise buy for budget streamers than the rodecaster. It seems to combine rodecaster and atem into one. Second question: is the overall sound any good and can you record your shows?

Yes you can make transparent still lower thirds and add them in the media feature. Yes, if you press record in OBS, you can record your shows too.
