I'm sorry but it is straight up incorrect to say previous game choices rarely mattered other than maybe the next dialogue. I say this as someone who Platinum'ed Heavy Rain and saw all endings. The whole story arc changes based on sometimes subtle and not so subtle events. It was brilliant. I'm so glad they put the flowchart system in this game to avoid such false accusations.

Anything above 1080p is fine IMO as long as FPS is maintained. Besides that, the quality of the game is more important. PS4 definitely tends to more often than not have amazing game experiences than the Xbox 1 even though the Xbox 1 does have its handful of great games. I'm just more of a PlayStation gamer since the original PS1. Anyway, I'm excited that Detroit Become Human is finally here.

This game looks exceptional on an OLED. I thought right after playing through God of War it might be awhile until another Pro game shocked me with its visuals, but right away the Detroit demo looked spectacular at 2160 cb and HDR.

nintendokings I know what you mean, it can't be helped. Fanboys talk graphics especially in the Xbox camp even though pc still tops everything all the time. At the end of the day, as long as the fps is stable and the game just looks good I'm totally fine. If I want eye candy, I go PC. But for games i like to play on ps4 cuz pc doesn't have god of war or persona 5 and much more. Xbox has a few titles I want but not enough to justify 300 bucks imo. Ps4 pro is a great system for 400 bucks, I'm glad ps4 owners have a decent system to play these unique games in higher quality

Finally Digital Foundry talks about FP16 and titles that use it on the pro. So Detroit and Far cry 5 uses it, and confirmed by DF. Cant wait to play this on Memorial Day weekend, it looks phenomenal.

Sony and Quantic Dream really need to do a full remake remaster for Heavy Rain but with gameplay improvements specifically for PS5 and if possible use RAY TRAYCING... Which brings me to both Beyond 2 Souls and THIS masterpiece... Sony really has to invest in getting those three games fully remake remastered for native PS5 hardware and use Ray Traycing and most likely if it is possible, hit full 4K HDR..... If not then have a fully Ray Traced 1080p 60fps mode or higher or maybe 1440p mode... But this game would highly benefit and make a show piece for Ray Traycing as well as other volumetric effects that perhaps Quantric Dream were unable to reach even on PS4 Pro. Great video.

This is true. When QD pitched the game to MS, they didnt like the aspect of child kidnapping in the game and wanted it changed. When they pitched the game to sony, they accepted it as is. Thus heavy rain became an exclusive for the PS and the relationship between the two companies have grown since.

Ah, yes, apologies. Yes, HDR is in the game and it's generally quite good. Not the best we've seen but definitely solid. It adds a lot to some of the brighter scenes (such as the android night club) so it's definitely worth using!

I generally love tech and tech focused videos (i'm a computer scientist in system engineering myself) and this channel is absolutely amazing and delivers high quality content, but it's just a bit sad that most of the tech analysis misses the mentioning of the hdr implementation (uncharted, god of war, horizon etc. for example). Especially for a game that relies heavily on it's lighting model like detroit where the tech analysis spends like 5 minutes talking about the lighting while not mentioning the hdr itself which is an important component of it. I hope you guys include hdr a bit more in terms of the technical aspects of video games in future and i'm looking forward to see your next tech analysis. thanks for the work. Ps. sorry if my english isn't that good, i'm german.

i see what you are saying, however the problem with having an "HDR segment" is that not many people have HDR tv screens to see them and most that do, view these videos with a non HDR monitor. also I'm pretty sure that to make the video HDR means they need to encode it differently, which i guess takes more time.

A staggering game. I was truly captivated by this game. The story is Cages best by far. The visuals are the best I've seen...voice work and animation is top draw and to top it off...you have more control and gameplay mechanics than previous QD games. This game is emotional and dark...dark as in it hardly gives you happy moments but when it does....you will have tears...and also I questioned my choices to myself and felt good or bad about some of them... It's not everyone's style of game...but I like QDs work and this is a stunning gaming experience!

Great post, Dave Meredith . I agree with you. This game delivers on so many levels. The attention to detail in this game is staggering. The way humans are rendered in this game in real time with a photo-realistic look, the high quality motion capture on all movements (with heavy focus on expression) to convey emotion and add another layer of immersion to an already impactful and gripping story arc filled with tough choices and controversial topics. The same story arc you have almost full control of in terms of direction, and even pacing. I have played some of Quantic Dreams games, and this installment is yet MORE refinement to that same formula that cage likes to use for his "filmic" like story driven games. The visuals have improved, the story choices now have dramatically more impact on the narrative, and you have more control over your character and actions than previous titles. This game is more than a demonstration of what is possible with graphics, but what is possible with narratives, and that to me is worthy of admiration and respect for the highly talented team that made this work of art.

Eye Dye Absolutely agree with you. I like Cages games and his way of telling a story. I liked Beyond Two Souls...a few did not but I liked it. Something about it captured me. Cage knows how to create emotion and tension in games. Detroit took it all to another level. It's an incredible production on all levels. I had to fight tears in more than one scene . It's a shame it won't sit with everyone. Some gamers want open worlds,online etc etc. Detroit is a game that's better than most films. The work and detail on this game is just pure class. It left me thinking about my choices and I felt genuine emotion from this game and that's a testament to it's depth of quality.

I just played D:BH on my new PS5. For the most part it looks really good. I think framerate is still locked at 30fps. A couple of scenes in the game really stumbled and stuttered. I'm wondering if you could do a test update on this game. I'm on my second playthrough and by making different choices, whole new sections of the game opened up for me - especially in the last three chapters.

For those who want multiple consoles, the PS4 and Nintendo Switch are the way to go. I am aware the XB1X is the most powerful console out there. But the PS4 exclusives really are of such high quality that they necessitate the PS4 purchase. On the other hand the Nintendo Switch exclusives are also amazing, considering the Switch hardware. Really in the console space, there are reasons to get a PS4 and Nintendo Switch. The XB1 is a weaker system and not worth it and the XB1X is really wasted potential. There's not much exclusive that really takes advantage of it.

H1Z1 is garbage, it has to be one of the most awful looking games that I have seen this far in to the generation. Graphics are not as important as gameplay, but gosh there has to be a baseline somewhere. H1Z1 is so far below the standard set by Sony first party studios, that it is painful to play for any period of time.

Is there native super-sampling for 1080p tv's on pro? , or do you have to enable it in the system settings? Someone please answer.

Everyone arguing about the irrelevance of xbox because of the ps4 exclusives is missing the point - the xbox has a lot of games not available on ps4 too, yet people always cite PC when that's mentioned, yet for the price of a single mid range gaming pc you could have both the one x and ps4 pro, and skip pc gaming entirely. Of course you could have both a gaming pc and a ps4 pro, but then you pay more and are largely confined to a desk when on pc. Sure you can plug a pc into a tv but navigating windows from a sofa? Yuck

I know you wont notice 4k /graphics differences on side by sides on youtube videos but.....Am i supposed to notice a difference in the perofrmance in the pro and the regular ps4 on this video? i bought a pro and sold my regular ps4 after buying a 4k HDR samsung. I think I got suckered :) but I know G.O.W looked sick on my new tv with the HDR on. I played it on favor resolution and didnt notice much of a difference in the performance, if anything

I only said gow because the time of the year it getting hot school gonna be out soon an most people want some action Detroit is slower pace and sometime you wanna take your time on and lean the story as there multi endings I believe

i'm still wondering why i bought a ps4 pro, even on a 4K TV, i'm loving this game, but playing it on a regular ps4 with the upscale my TV do.. it's nothing like what Microsoft did with the One X, too bad cos MS is missing exclusives titles and Sony have rushed the pro, and we only get onall Triple A games, better frame rates and just checkerboard 4K loving this game, and if u loved Detroit , give a try to Until dawn , cos this game is very effective too. and stills look great.

Visually, this game is absolutely stunning. The best I’ve seen this generation. The performance, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I played the game on a Pro and I still feel like it stutters pretty often and chugs along at times. I would have hated to play this on a base model. God of war also had similar issues.

For a game this good looking, 26fps on vanilla PS4 is absolutely tolerable. I won't buy a Pro for more resolution and better framerates. I'm using that money on GameCube games anyway :D

Concerning framerate: Wouldn't it be a viable option to cap a game like this at 24fps and making the PS4 put out 24hz? Since most TVs support 24p output, wouldn't that be a smoother experience than ~26-27 fps at 60hz?

The only issue with the flowchart is that it shows after every chapter - which really takes you out and breaks the immersion - they should have keep it only as a main menu option.
