Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender were brilliant in this movie. This is not my favourite adaptation of the book but these two are my favourite Jane and Rochester.

You nailed it - Mia is an artist with what she does . . . it's not about drawing attention to herself and making faces to impress the audience, it's about creating an individual character of depth. Mia disappears and the character emerges. She is actually quite a chameleon.

she's the perfect Jane Eyre and yes i know that the age difference between her and Michael are huge but in the book Mr. Rochester was also older than Jane.
@SupernaturalLover6711 жыл бұрын
it's only a 12 year gap, that's really not that big. brad pitt's 12 years older than Angelina jolie, for example

katinas1100 In Jane Eyre, the book, Jane is 19 and Rochester is around 35. The story reflects a gap in their age and social status, that's a big element of what's going on - this is the film adaptation that I think most closely reflects the original ages of the characters. Most actresses who've played Jane were considerably older than Mia.
@SupernaturalLover6710 жыл бұрын
katinas1100 that's fine. my dad is 12 years older than my mom and they've been married for 20 years, so age is just a number I guess.

I read Jane Eyre the first time when I was a sophomore in high school. I had seen the book sitting on the shelf in my school and had always felt drawn to it, so I finally checked it out and read it. I felt such a profound connection to Jane as a Christian girl who used her faith as her guiding moral compass and had a profound sense of character. I knew the book was somehow going to help me in my life, and it’s very true. I married young and to a man 12 years older than me, with a past much more.. um.. colorful than my own. He had been in a 6 year relationship and had slept around extensively with whoever would sleep him and even admitted to me he paid for sex. We are from polar opposite worlds. Well because of this, I struggled for some time with feelings of retroactive jealousy over his past, and even though he plead with me night and day that I was his true first love and his redeeming love, I still struggled with it. That is when I reread Jane Eyre and saw SO MANY similarities between Jane and Edward and my husband and I. The age gap, the worldly life Mr Rochester lived before Jane, being married to Bertha, but never truly loving her and wanting to get away from her the way my husband didn’t really love the woman he lived with and was always looking for other things. And how Mr Rochester truly loved Jane and she truly loved him despite their vast differences in life choices. I realized Jane Eyre is the closest representation of our love story. No, I didn’t get necessarily get a “Prince Charming”, I got a Mr Rochester and I truly adore that ♥️

I'm in my sophomore year of high school and this book completely fascinated me. Age difference marriages are always badly received in society, but once I realize that I am in love in my life, nothing will definitely stop me.

It actually surprised me how good she was in Jane Eyre. I completely gave up on her after Alice in Wonderland and The Kids Are All Right, I was decided to avoid films with her in main roles. But the power of Fassbender called me to this movie and aside from being too pretty to be Jane Eyre, she was really great.

Mia, you should watch some versions, especially one with Charlotte Gainsbourg as Jane. Just to see what u needed to do to be better than her in your performance. It's not enough just to watch some ones pretty face on screen. Your Jane was like pretty vase with no flowers in it....Also like watching Alice in other movie...where was your transformation?
@92ninersboy4 жыл бұрын
Telling Mia Wasikowska to watch and learn acting from Charlotte Gainsbourg is like telling Jeff Beck to learn how to play the guitar by watching Jimmy Fallon.

Hm, interesting. I didn’t like that version at all. Also in that movie many parts from the book were cut, even more than in this one. IMHO Mia did a great job here, I found her extremely convincing and strong.
