I also think in terms of sexuality of Jim I think too we take for granted that Jim appears to be a naturally passive person but was in a religion that taught that passive was the worst thing a male could be . So like o said above you had this very deep seeded guilt but also this constant need to act in a way contrary to your nature further created the monolith that is Jim

I think the fact that in the movie we learn Jim became a minister essentially out of guilt and I think that guilt plus the guilt of being some form of lgbtq fueled and continues to fuel the madness that is Jim Bakker
