Caleb, I just wanted to point out that you have an absolutely fantastic story telling. Seriously, it is so good, that I take that video to make notes for my job (cybersecurity) on how to break down complex topics to a degree that everyone can understand and follow. Not only are you able to break down hard-to-digest technical facts into an easy to understand manner, you make a storyline out of it that builds up in a perfect pace, not too slow to loose interest and not too fast to not being able to keep up, just perfect. Beyond that, you address every audience out there and provide a guidance so that no should be afraid to make a decision on buying a TV they were afraid about beforehand. Thank you so much, for this gorgeous presentation. All the best from germany

Finally, Caleb I respect you on this honest TV review. This is one of the more honest videos I've seen this year. I purchased the 65inch LG G3 for £2200 & I'm absolutely happy with my purchase. Like you just said my friend, all these TVs are excellent. Each TVs has its pros & cons. No matter which TV you purchase you'll be a happy customer. What I don't like is when people always praise one certain TV! And then say its the "best TV." Thank you Caleb. Keep up the good work 👍🏻

qd oled with its much higher color volume is much more useful for gaming atm (definitely noticeable) but in the coming years film will take advantage of its potential as well. a95l while also not having hgig, has been proven by vincent at hdtvtest to have updated processing to get it close and in some games even better (games that don't adhere to standards). the a95l also has the latest industry standard chip along with 6gb of ram instead of 3 (way overdue) meaning much longer lasting OS and support for apps. its a no brainer for any film enthusiast thats also an avid gamer looking for something long term. Someone like me though would choose the G3 in the hopes that in the coming years the industry adopts 120hz bfi again since brightness is now so high and fixes the one thing oleds severely lack.. Motion Resolution. Motion interpolation is also not a solution since it only guesses whats going on in-between frames which is a burden on the brain having to correct it, along with all the artifacting that comes with it.

People in the AV space always get so caught up in the minute details and comparisons when 99% of it is not noticeable and there are bigger considerations once you have flagship products like these. Most good reviewers mention unless side by side- hard to see diff - also the Human brain - will make snow whiter -but seen together = that snow looks whiter - Given that the Sony probably is top - you decide if features and price worth it

Caleb you should talk about problems with these tvs that all people are going to notice without being video experts. Vertical banding for one in all 3 of these tvs. Once you see it in content you cant un-see it. Picture drop outs in game mode for the S95C. Sony lag on video processing that is causing lip sync issues when run through av receivers and incompatibilities with certain receivers like Denon. Nobody is going to buy any of these tvs at this price range just to stream content. People and manufacturers should be made aware that these are not isolated incidents but do exist in all three like mentioned above respectively. i get that the video is supposed to be bout their strengths but please give all manufacturers a kick in the butt that is needed to QC their products better and acknowledge problems and fix problems. Thank you.

Nice review. One thing that's missing in this comparison are the panels' ability to reject sunlight. That's really important to me because I have a giant bay window in my family room. I know that Sony professional panels have done a really nice job with ambient light mitigation. I'm just curious if that tech transferred into their prosumer panels.

I went with the LG OLD C3 77” over the G3 and added a new Sonos Arc to add to the overall system. I think the G3 is gorgeous, but the forced wall mounting solution isn’t something I am that enthusiastic about, so I compromised and I’m really happy with this display. It is stunning, even if not quite as bright as the G3.

On a side note, if you absolutely love the Sony and you need more HDMI 2.1 ports and you aren’t adding a receiver, you can easily add a Marantz VS3003 3 IN/1 OUT HDMI Switch for $199. I have a professionally calibrated 83” Sony A90J that I purchased from Value Electronics about 16 months ago when the price dropped to $4999. I opted for their Q/C, Break-in and Professional Calibration and I still absolutely love everything about that TV. My setup includes a Panasonic UB9000P1k UHD Player and a Sony HT-A9 HTS with the Sony SW5 Sub. My setup is in a smaller room and the sound is truly remarkable. For audio, I originally purchased the Sony HT-A7000 Soundbar, the optional SA-RS5S wireless rear speakers and the aforementioned SW5 Sub, but I couldn’t solve the issue I had with the sound cutting out no matter what I tried. So I switched my audio to the Sony HT-A9 HTS since I already had the Sony SW5 Sub and I couldn’t be happier.

I bought an LG G2 in 2022. At the beginning of 2023, I had hard-core FOMO seeing all of the innovations for both QD-OLED (new panel chemistry) and WOLED (MLA.) But after having watched this and ALL of those "other videos," seeing the new models myself in stores, and now knowing about the tech that will likely come out in the next 2-4 years, my FOMO is gone. I am enjoying, and will continue to enjoy, my G2. My room can be bright or dark at my discretion, and either way the G2 is sometimes eye-searingly bright, has great processing, and reproduces almost every color that exists in current content. So in learning about current and near-future tech, I won't look to purchase another TV until (1) there's a more stunning upgrade from the G2 available, and (2) technological innovations have become both more stable/reliable (like HDMI 2.1) and somewhat plateaued again (so there isn't as much FOMO a year after I make a purchase.)

Near-black chrominance overshoot actually does bother me quite a bit because it distracts from the movie/show. For example, I recently watched Better Call Saul which has a lot of low-light scenes, and the near-black chrominance overshoot was very distracting. It was less noticeable on the Blu-ray version compared to the Netflix version, but only by a little. (For reference, this is on the LG CX)

I'm strongly considering upgrading from my 65" Sony A80J to a 77" Sony A95L. Between the three sets here, the picture quality is so close that your average consumer probably couldn't tell the difference in their home, unless they had all three side by side and professionally calibrated. What I prefer about the Sony OLEDs is the Acoustic Surface Audio. Combined with a compatible Sony sound bar (like I have with my A80J), the Sony's can use the actual surface of the screen as a center channel. The combination is pretty amazing to hear. For really small rooms, the Sony HT-A3000 works remarkably well, although the HT-A5000 is probably the better choice for most uses. If you have a large room and can swing the extra cost, the HT-A7000 is the King. I'm currently running the HT-A3000, but would upgrade to the -A5000 if I get the 77" A95L. Now's all I need is an extra ~$5,700 (but I'll wait until Super Bowl deals arrive).

I feel like Warranty and QC issues is something reviewers tend to don't focus but they're one of the bigger aspects of purchase. For example sony and samsung offers 1 warranty vs LG's 5 yr warranty and their 5 yr os upgrades. Thats a substantial difference and shows you how much lg regards its QC issues to give such warranty. For sony and samsung you have to shelve again few extra dollars to get extra warranty. This is an important since you would be easily using tvs for more than 3 or 5 yrs

Hey Lazy do you have the Sony X95L. If so, how do you like it. How does sports and regular TV look because that's all I watch and need a great TV that has great motion and low bit processing. I've researched hundreds of hours on the X95L and ALL the reviews are incredible. Should be the best 85" TV on the planet. It's my #1 choice to replace my incredible Samsung 75" Q9FN from 5 years ago that was one of the top TVs on the planet.

@@billtinnell2206 Yes I am an owner, I highly recommend the 85X95L. It is amazing for basically all content and with XR Clear the low resolution and highly compressed signals from Cable/Satellite look great. I mean I'm sure you noticed how those feeds look soft and compressed especially once you get to 70"+ inches. Well it actually looks as sharp as a 65" screen but on an 85". No lie it is incredible processing on Sony's behalf. I believe you will like it very much. If you have more questions feel free to ask me once you decide to purchase it but for sure use the "Custom Picture Mode preset and local dimming high". The local Dimming performs the best on this picture preset. More blooming on the other presets.

Yes, I bought a G3, came home all night fiddling with the settings to bypass the brightness blocking, as well as a broken FilmMaker mod, and when it seemed like I should be happy, it turns out that fucking Atmos doesn’t work on Windows, although for some reason LG CX worked Wonderful :)

I think if you have enough money for the A95L you probably have enough money for an HDMI 2.1 receiver that has extra ports for you to use. The Denon S760H is one of the cheaper ones and gives you another 3 HDMI 2.1 ports to use. It supports VRR even. Not the most powerful but just pointing out it doesn't have to be super expensive.
@Nwordplzplz
@Nwordplzplz 9 ай бұрын
I didn't have a good experience with my HDMI 2.1 Denon S970H receiver. Long story short, my Xbox Series X kept switching back to 4K60 and it wouldn't let me enable 4K120, VRR, or ALLM. It was very sporadic. I changed HDMI 2.1 cables and I even used the included HDMI 2.1 cable that came with my Xbox Series X. Luckily my QN95C 85" has 4x HDMI 2.1 ports so I plugged my XSX directly into my TV, and I opted to run my Apple TV 4K through my receiver. I also run my gaming PC and PS5 directly to my TV. 144Hz is awesome with my gaming PC. I haven't had any issues since. It sucks because the Denon AVR-S970H has 3x HDMI 2.1 ports, but they're useless to me. I'm running the latest firmware as well. I'd be upset if I relied on those HDMI 2.1 ports if I went with a TV that only had 2x HDMI 2.1 ports.
@carlkitchen

@@Nwordplzplz that's unfortunate. Always good to check online first and see if others are having issues before you buy a specific model. Even then your issue might not be common enough. My S760H, on the other hand, has been flawless with LG CX so far. VRR, 4K120, and ALLM all working without anything extra besides enabling it. That with my PS5 and PC.

@@carlkitchen That's a good point. I checked several reviews and Reddit posts. Everything seemed like it was good to go. Everything else works flawlessly so I'm not going to complain. Quick question for you. If you have a CX, why are you running those consoles to your AVR instead of directly to your TV? I'm not trying to argue or anything, but I previously gamed on our C1 and everything went directly into our TV. Granted our Onkyo AVR was limited to HDMI 2.0 since it launched in 2019 or so.

Eh, I'll be honest, I'm disappointed by this comparison. Too much time with a preamble, & it glossed over a lot of things I was curious about. While yes, all of them support higher refresh rates, which TV's game mode looks best? Whose HDR implementation looks best in game mode? Are picture options still available in game mode in all 4? Is ABL super aggressive in the A95L when gaming like it is in the A95K? When watching sports is ABL super aggressive too, especially for sports like hockey? Is there a noticeable difference in motion clarity for sports between the 4? So on & so forth. At the end you said it was a "high level analysis" but you glossed over so much. That "high level analysis" was 3 minutes out of a 17 minute video. A letdown, for sure.

I recently switched to an 77” S90C from a Sony 77” A80J because I couldn’t stand the near black chrominance overshoot which is highly visible in so many movies and series as it’s really common for movies and series to have dark scenes. There’s just no way I’m going to buy another WOLED screen now that I have seen what QD-Oled has to offer.

I don't own a Sound Bar and I am not interested in buying one. I realize if you take into account the Sony A95L has the best Sound. If you take that into versus the other TV's the 3 all cost about the same. Currently all 65 inch TV's are Sony $3200, other 2 are $2300. A really good Soundbar would cost around $700 or more... So the price difference is basically closed if you don't want a Sound Bar. BTW My cousin has worked in the Appliance store business for 30 years. He mainly sells Kitchen appliances. However he told me from talking to the TV Sales staff. They told him as far as buying a brand name SONY TV's are considered the best. I also talked with a guy in Best Buy one night who told me his work involved video processing. He told me Sony's Video processing on it's TV's is better than Samsung and LG. As the host stated all 3 TV's suit consumer's different taste. I have seen issues before with Samsung TV's Quality Control which leads me to be hesitant. If you are looking for value for your buck. For $1600 you can get the Samsung OLED S90C 65 inch. It also doesn't have the Connect Box which I have read complaints. As far as LG my issue is I bought one of LG's early OLED Curved TV's (remember that silly idea) as LG marked the prices down before bringing out a new OLED model in 2015. I ended up replacing 3 OLED TV's for an eventual total refund. The color uniform was OFF on ALL 3. With a yellow tint appearing on one side. I realized LG was trying to get rid of these TV's as a majority were flawed. I know that was early in LG OLED's development. However left a bad taste in my mouth. LG is one of the 3 BRANDS today. BUT LG TV's were originally GOLDSTAR TV's and the name was changed to LG TV's in 1995. I worked at an appliance store in the late 80's. I was never impressed with the Gold Star brand. So just a personal perspective I am biased against the LG Brand. As for Samsung TV's you seem to be able to get the best deals. The technology is very good. However I believe Samsung TV's have issues with longevity. I was going to buy the Samsung 65 inch S90C for $1600. But I think I am going to hold out and try to get the Sony 65 inch A95L hopefully at a future date where I can get it for maybe $3000 or less during a big future sale.

Love the way you represented the ideas in this video. We have a G2 in our main room but are looking at options in the 75/77” range that aren’t Oled, think the missing perspective here is a direct comparison to the Mini LEDs this year. Approached from the same sentiment as this video, is the difference huge factoring the price of an x95l vs the s90c / G3 / a95l? Or is it a difference that’s noticeable, but not as blown out as we may think. Maybe something for the next “you asked”, but wish there were more direct shootout videos on this topic each year, given the progress lately. Was secretly hoping the x95l was the mystery TV.

The A95L is of course the one closest to "perfection" looking image at the current state of TV technology. That being said, most people simply can't afford paying up to 2100 more for the 77" (yes the A95L is 5k vs 2,9k S95C) when compared to the other two, that simply isn't economical for most people when all these TV's are so close. Dolby Vision and DTS aside, the S95C will give you 95% of the Fun, at a price that is becoming so increasingly more approachable.

I bought 2 of these 3. I got the Samsung, and i absolutely loved the picture. Unfortunately my OTA channels would go to a black screen after watching 5 minutes. It did this on every channel. I checked to make sure the cables were secure, and they were. Then while playing my Xbox my screen would randomly go black. I ended up sending it back to Best Buy and got the Sony. To be perfectly honest, i slightly preferred the Samsung PQ. However, at least the screen does not go black and i can play my Xbox with no problems. So the extra money was worth it for me. Some of the reviewers like Classy Tech and Kevin and I think Brian and Fomo might have mentioned the black screen problem and how it happens playing on PC and a game counsel. They blamed it on the one connect box which the 90 doesn't have. I thought it wasn't anything widespread ( it may not be) and I would be ok, but unfortunately it happened to me as well.

Wait for Sony to go on sale then buy the Sony paired with a sound bar if that’s what you want. I personally hate sound bars and think they are a waste of money. A fully sound system powered by an AVR for me. When it’s time to upgrade you can keep you speakers and upgrade the AVR. You don’t need a whole new system. They also tend to sound better and have more options to get your system sounding the way you want. You can also upgrade your system one thing at a time.
