Greetings from North Wales 🏴 Thank you for this excellent tutorial. I've had this pedal sat in a drawer for about five years now (it was a birthday gift) , and thought it was about time I used it. I'm not a great guitar player, but I am a singer/songwriter who uses guitar to write songs and I can see this will be a useful tool. I'm not great with tech but this has given me the confidence to give it a go.

Don Carr has great presence, knows well the equipment when he does a demonstration, and is by far the best man for this type of video. I have watched literally hundreds of videos on You Tube, or, I should say, I have begun to watch hundreds of video demos here. I often stop watching because home-made demos often have poor sound or video quality. Sweetwater's demos are always top notch, and Don offers a straight forward explanation of the gear he demos. Now whenever I want to watch a demo, I look for a Sweetwater demo. Thanks, Don Carr!

Great idea,,i want one. I currently use a loop to warm up and practice,this goes one step further. Bass and drums in a box is very cool for those situations where you need just a duet at lower volume. I can expand the song list and The Improv time utilizing this tool. Solo gigs duets and fill in time. There is no way that you can replace real players I agree but for short stents and smaller projects this is perfect

Will the Trio work with alternate tunings, such as half/whole step drop, drop D, open G, etc? Also work with a banjo?
@xebio69 жыл бұрын
Henry Mays Yes, any tuning... provided you feed it simple chords in the "learning" stage. It needs to know major/minor. Root and third is enough. You play the fancy stuff AFTER teaching it the basic progression. Same with banjo if you get as close as possible to the range of a guitar, I suppose.

@1958gbt8 жыл бұрын
Bought one of these and returned it the next day. Cool concept but lack of storage is silly and having to teach it each time you want to generate a background track is cumbersome at best. Thanks for watching! Don Carr

A doubt. My guitar is connected to a series of effects pedals. In which position the Digitech TRIO should be positioned so that the effects do not distort TRIO'S simulations of bass and drums? If the TRIO is the "first effects pedal" probably the result will not be good. If the TRIO is the "last of effects pedals" would be the best solution? Or this "gadget" must be used stand alone with a guitar + amp?
@xebio69 жыл бұрын
Carlos M Separating the two signals (guitar and bass/drums) is the best solution. It has two outs: "amp" and "mixer". Ideally you would plug your guitar into the Trio, then use the amp out into your effects into your guitar amp, and use the mixer out for the bass/drums into any sound system (another clean amp, personal stereo, PA, mixing console, powered monitors etc). If you're using one amp only, then plug first into the trio and try not to use effects as they will obviously affect the b/dr sound too.

Can this also function as a normal looper pedal for playing live gigs?
@sweetwater3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Russell. Yes, the looper is controlled independently of the band section so you can use the looper without having the backing band going. The looper has pretty basic functionality so if you're wanting to do any sort of complicated or intricate looping, you may want to consider a different dedicated looper for live performance. POPCULTURE CHAMELEON The Trio generates a bass and drum pattern based on the chord progression and rhythm that you play into it. Is TRS the same as an instrument cable?
@sweetwater9 жыл бұрын
Hi DcsOrCity! TRS is the abbreviation for “Tip, Ring, Sleeve.” It looks like a standard 1/4″ or 1/8″ plug but with an extra “ring” on its shaft. TRS cables have two conductors plus a ground (shield). They are commonly used to connect balanced equipment or for running both left and right mono signals to stereo headphones. You will also find TRS connectors on the stem of Y cables. These are used for mixer insert jacks where the signal is sent out through one wire and comes back in through the other. Instrument cables are commonly known as TS cables and TS is the abbreviation for “Tip, Sleeve” and refers to a specific type of 1/4″ or 1/8″ connector that is set up for 2-conductor, unbalanced operation. One insulator ring separates the tip and sleeve. The tip is generally considered the “hot,” or the carrier of the signal, while the sleeve is where the ground or shield is connected. TS cables are best known as guitar or line-level instrument cables.

I don't think this trio can follow fast and heavy metal rhythm? Will it write a bass or drum line to a fast guitar rhythm? every video I see so far is a easy rock guitar rhythm! Also how about when u first playing your rhythm will it keep your rhythm so u can play solo over?
@sweetwater9 жыл бұрын
Hi *****! The Trio will follow any tempo, no matter how slow or fast. I personally chose to use a medium tempo and simple chords to show the Trio’s stylistic diversity and to keep the demo to a manageable length, haha! The Trio is a deep pedal that will do a lot. That being said, the Trio doesn’t have Metal specifically as a Genre and none of the Styles reflect typical metal bass and drum patterns so even though the Trio will play whatever tempo you play into it, you may not be able to find appropriate bass and drum patterns to fit your expectations. There is a USB port specifically for firmware updates so who knows? There should be Style and Genre updates, additions, changes, etc. Thanks for watching! -Don Carr

SweetwaterSound I have to agree with CTROCK, if you want to sell this to metal heads and hard rock players, playing simple chords and blues type stuff through the Trio is not the way to sell it. Proof is always in the pudding, not one person that has got their hands on this supposedly wonder of all wonders has really shown how it can handle good rock and roll. It is like me wanting to buy a Ferrari and the sales man takes me on a slow drive around the lot and expects me to buy it...... not going to cut it.
