Digitizing 16mm Film at the Kelvin Smith Library at Case Western Reserve University

In this video we digitize several films from the Archives of Case Western Reserve University. The films are digitized in the Digitization Annex of the Kelvin Smith Library. In the video we go over the handling and the consideration taken when digitizing and post producing the films.

Well the Premium Services are "self selected" as they are paying to have the films done. Other films from Archives or Special Collections go through their digitization protocol priorities. So some are on-demand, like a patron request, and others are just part of the digitization timeline. At lease that's how it works for the Digitization Annex stuff. The DigiLab has a schedule that's based on some committee I think.

The preservation freezer and sorting area is on the far side of the room and people were coming and going throughout the day so protocols at the time designated this not a “solo or private” space so mask wearing was still required.
