What about K supplementation?Digoxin itself causes hyperkalemia. Why we give K supplementation in digoxin toxicity? Many authors says that it decreases Digoxin and sodium pump binding, But we have already stopped the drug in case of toxic overdose and potassium supplementation has no effect on digoxin already bound to sodium pump but can only prevent further binding of digoxin. What is the criteria for potassium supplementation? Obviously it can be given if hypokalemia as in case of chronic digoxin toxicity BUT most casea of overdose preswnt with hyperkalemia. Can we give potassium supplements if normokalemia or mild hyperkalemia????
