Please mark my words .Before coming to my house on 30th July 1992 he rang me on 22nd july about his favourite dishes Please mark my words He used to share two pegs of Royal Challenge and I shared one Beer with him daily evening. Papita was his man pasand fruit.Amongest sweets Pethe ki mithai and chane ki daal and chinese food and chicken were his favourite dishes . For eight evenings we used to sit around the table till 12 pm daily.Just imagine my good luck .He has written in one of his 27 letters to me My dearest Pruthiji I have lacs of fans in this world but no one is like your goodself . Real emperor was Shankar- Jaikishan not OP Nayyar. Definately OP had better melody and sweatness in his songs but he was not as versatile as SJ. OPN composed mostly happy and romatic songs, although they are great and mesmarising, but SJ could compose songs of all types and SJ were as good in classical music as Naushad or Madan Mohan and as good in melody as OP Nayyar or RD Burman. Because of this quality they ruled music industry onwards their first film 'Barsaat' to Jaikishan Death in 1971, more than 20 years. While Nayyar saab carrier was filled with up and downs. His peak was from 1954-1959.

@@thegame2551 There is no doubt that Shankar & Jaikishan (SJ) were the top most music directors during the golden era of Hindi film music, except for a short period when OP happened to be the highest paid music director. Remember, SJ were already popular when OP started as a music director in Mumbai. However, with "Aar Paar" and subsequent two or three movies, he was able to outshine even well-established great music directors like SJ, Naushad, Roshan, etc. During that period most of the film producers preferred Lata ji for their movies' songs. As for variety, it was natural when SJ had Lata ji, Mukesh ji, Manna Da and Suman Kalyanpur ji to sing for them. Once, Raju Bharathan, in a write-up on 10 classical raga-based songs sung by Asha ji, listed all the ten composed by OP. Is there any music director in the Mumbai film industry who could become the highest paid MD without ever using the vocals of Lata ji during the golden era ? It was only OP who could do that.

Will you believe_ In one of his letters to me O P wrote " My dearest Pruthiji_ You always live in my heart_ not a single day goes without remembering you: _ Very soon I shall meet you at Sonepat. And then came 30 th July 1992. I received the personality whom I worship as God in my jehan. Oh! very heart stealing interview, I am an ardent lover of OPjis lilts and Rafi Sahebs voice, I was not aware that it was a failure of Lathaji to turn up for recording of Asmaan movie which led for non grouping of Opiji and Lathaji for the remaining life. I still think that no body can take the place and fillup the void created by the sad demise of Opiji in Indian music.

On a day he signed a movie and by co incidence I was present at his home .When the concerned producer left.,Nayyar saheb asked me about my choice about female singer for that film .My answer was "Runa Laila" . As per me she stands next to Asha Bhosale and Geeta Dutta.

Rev Dilraj Kaur_ God bless you. I feel privilaged to have spent ten days with this great son of Lahore at my house in Sonepat. Regarding his favourite dishes_ please note_ he was very fond of chane ki daal_ Papita _ Pethe ki mithai _ south Indian dishes_ two pegs of Royal Challenge whisky at dinner_ chicken. He used to ring me every satureday at 7 am for two months before I recieved him at Delhi Airport at 8_30 pm on 30 th July 1992 for his ten days stay with me. I dont think he loved his any fan more than me. He wrapped me with firozi color shawl. He gave 6000 rupees to my wife asking her he did not she wears sari or suit. Rev Ahmad Vasi Sir I salute your goodself for your contents of this interview. I believe OPNayyar Sahab must have given yourgoodself some reference about my letters (66) and 3 audio cassettes in which I posted 17 songs with my narrations. My corrospendence with him started in January 1981 till 1992 before he finally accepted my invitation and I received him at Delhi Airport on 30th July 1992 at 8.30 pm. I will not forget those ten days till the last breathe of my life. The second second cassette I sent to him in Jan 1990 on his birthda. At the end of this cassette I narrated _OPNayyar Sahab jaise sangeetkar iss zameen par baar baar nahin aate _ Main rahun na rahun_ OPNayyar Sahab rahein na raein but I know one thing _ As and when the history of Indian music shall be written his. Name will go very down in its channells. His singer Madhuri Joglekar wrote to me _ Mr SCPruthi Sir _ Many of his fans were in tears after listening to your this cassette , SCPruthi Sonepat

The interview wd hv been much better if anchor had allowed Ahmed wasi sahab to relate last days of OP. Dilraj Kour intrupted too frequently. Anchor was not efficient enough to control.Too much noise and excitement mar the programme.Not adviseble for the Interviewer to be part of the excitement.
