Chamar is a caste community of South Asia . People of this caste are found throughout the Indian subcontinent , mainly living in the northern states of India and countries like Pakistan and Nepal . The Chamar community is classified as a Scheduled Caste under the affirmative action system of modern India . Chamar is a group of many sub-castes. Initially they used to do business only related to leather , but on the contrary, agriculture and weaving work were also prevalent in many sub-castes of the community. In today's modern times, this hardworking community has made great progress. According to Ain-e-Akbari, the rulers of Utpal dynasty belonged to the Chamar community.
