I have to admit, producing for nearly 20 years and I still dread arrangement, specifically breakdown to buildups into a drop/climax.

I am baffled about how long it took for me to realize the true use of the arrangement view and the session view. Something that should've been among the 1st things to learn when working in Ableton somehow got skipped. This now opens a whole new view on work-flow. Haha AWESOME! 😂👌👌👌

This is a lot easier to do in Bitwig, because you can have your clips open next to your arrangement. You can use the clips to make your 4- or 8-bar sections, and then drag them straight into the arrangement where you need them, without switching views. You can put all your instruments into a group, and that allows you to use that top level group to drag entire song sections around with one click and drag, without having to multiselect. The top-level group is your arranger track, same as other DAWs that have that concept of a top-level section arrangement track.

Haha, kind of but actually it's the opposite. Buggin' is very inspired by Trippin'. The original version of Trippin' is a track from 2001 by Goldtrix and it is actually a cover a Jill Scott song called It's Love. This is the original version of Trippin', which Liv and I have covered. Confused yet??? Lol.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJy9ipetmNhof9E

Curious why not start in session view? You’ve basically applied the idea of a loop based modular session view to the arrangement view, which is cool too if you don’t have session view I guess. Well, works either way….party on ya freaks 😂🎉🖤

Hey Dilby, I have about 30+ 4,8, 16 bar loops as you described in the first coupla minutes of this video. Big help, bro! However, please go into more detail on the 'variations' on how you created variation on each stem. Else, I am asking for a simplified version, dude!
@dilbydj
@dilbydj Жыл бұрын
The variations were very simple. I did go over them pretty quickly, but it was mainly just opening and closing filters with automation applied to different blocks. The key is making distinct variations. It could be in, pattern, tone, sound source, pitch (octave), effects, anything really, just make some variations that you think sound cool and go through the process. The point is not to get a perfect arrangement, but to just get an arrangement quickly. Reading your comment, that sounds like something that could be helpful for you. Give it a go. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Kinda helps, the blocks of patterns is a good idea. Wish you used the terms like build, drop and break more often because its hard to follow which parts of the song your setting up The video's appreciated tho!
@dilbydj
@dilbydj Жыл бұрын
If you look at the Kick track you can see where the breaks / builds / drops etc are. I do agree though, I could've explained it better. The concept I had was actually demonstrate that it's possible to do it quickly, rather than just say it, which Is why I did the timer etc. A downside of that is that it's all off the cuff and I'm literally trying to do it fast in one take with no cuts, so the narration is not as polished as it could otherwise be. I'll take it on board. thx :)

Hi Dilby! I am a big fan of the sound quality of your work. Your tracks and tutorials always sound fantastic. But why dont you invest in a proper mic to record your voice? There is always this constant noise floor when you talk. Nevertheless keep on doing this great productions. Big respect, Marcus.
@dilbydj
@dilbydj Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I know dude, it annoys me every time I make a video. I have invested but it hasn't really solved the problem. I use a 300 EURO lavalier microphone to record. I have another mic for recording vocals etc, but I can't work with it in front of my face.
@dilbydj
@dilbydj Жыл бұрын
Hey Markus, this motivated me to look into it more and it seems that it is because the camera has really terrible noisy preamps. So, if I record the audio onto a separate device, like my Zoom H4n I actually get a very clean recording. I have one video recorded for next week which will have the noise floor issue, but after that it should be solved! 🙏

@@dilbydj Great to hear! And this was in no way meant to be rude. It just is a bit annoying when it's a long video and you hear that noise so often. I knew that you would be aware of that already because music wise your tracks sound fat and clear and it would make no sense if you wouldn´t hear that yourself there! Big respect!!

I feel like if I just sit in front of Bitwig, fuck around with house samples long enough and think housey thoughts, I'll end up with a house track just by screwing around. When it comes to drum and bass though, it's completely different. I feel like if I'm not laser focused, have a main plan, a back-up plan and three other contingent plans to go and rescue the soldiers that are now prisoners of War who might never see their family again, nothing is going to happen and it doesn't. Which is really odd for me because I've been into drum and bass for almost 30 years now. I dunno. I just have some weird mental block about it, but yesterday I just actually sat down and powered through it. Two technically because the first one I was on I stopped even though I was almost all the way through because my new base synth (Heartbeat by Softube. It's awesome.) started doing something really cool and then my thought was that I could make an entire track around what it was doing and so I did! But I'd still love to see you do that with a DnB track. I'm not implying that you can't. I just want to see it so that I know I have no excuses. Liked and subbed. Mostly because of how you say "coo" as you knock it out piece by piece. Thanks! Great vid! ⚡🤘⚡
