@@knos5667 I figured it out. You have to isoate the layer by double clicking the art work. He skipped a crucial part.

Hi! I'm having trouble with the clipping mask, it doesn't seem to work for me. I was hoping the watercolor would stay inside the lines but it doesn't..

You need to make sure that all of your outlines are on top of your painting. So do all of your outlines in the top layer, lock your layers below, and select all of your outlines. Go to object > compound path > make. Later when you finish your painting, select the whole painting (including outlines), and while you have everything selected, click your outline path once more (anywhere on the outline is fine). Then go to object > clipping mask > make.

Hey, as you can see he's using the "Blob brush tool" which unifies the paths instead of keeping them separated. For a split second, you can see him selecting the inner stroke of the path and he simply deletes it, that way the pat fills itself right away.
