Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor & Dev Anand were said to be Trimurti ( Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh) of Bollywood till 60's . None of them was inferior to other interms of acting. I have noticed this trend everywhere that Muslims always praise Dilip Kumar and Rafi Saheb just because of the fact that both of them were Muslims. Dilip Kumar was a good method actor but not a natural actor like Sanjeev Kumar, Balraj Sahni and Moti Lal. He was respected by film fraternity more due to his age rather than his acting calibre. None of his work is comparable to that of all time greatest actor Sanjeev Kumar. If someone has any doubt, see Khilona, Arjun Pandit, Naya din nayi raat, Aandhi, Dastak, Angoor, Koshish, Mausam etc. As far as stardom is concerned, Dilip Kumar is miles behind Rajesh Khanna, the first super star and Amitabh Bachhan, the star of the millennium. If we talk of his contemporaries , his craze was never like Dev Anand and later like Rajesh Khanna & Amitabh Bachhan. Conclusion of the analysis, Dilip Kumar was a good actor but not a great actor like Sanjeev Kumar and Dilip Kumar was a Star but not as great as Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachhan and Dev Anand. As far as Rafi Saheb is concerned, he was undoubtedly best among all play back singers till today. More over, he was a great human being also who helped many needy colleagues. Only Manna Da could compete with him interms of versatility but Manna Da's voice was not as sweet as Rafi Saheb. But before praising a song, one should keep in mind that for a song to be hit,40 percent contribution is of lyricist, 30 percent contribution is of music director and remaining 30 percent is of singer. If singer is the only criteria for a song to be hit, all Rafi Saheb songs should have been hit ( His hit percentage around 45-50%). While praising a song, we should not forget the contribution of great music directors like S D Burman, Naushad, Shankar Jaikishan, O P Nayyar, Madan Mohan, Roshan, Ravi etc and also not forget the contribution of lyricist like Shailendra, Sahir Ludhyanvi, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Shakeel Badayuni, Rajinder Krishan, Indivar, Anand Bakshi etc.
