It's no secret that Green Day are huge Dillinger Four fans. I saw Green Day in 2001, and in between sets, "This Shit is Genius" is what was playing, it it was no accident

Sometimes it's simple things that make it hard Spoiled baby T's with credit cards Overtime always on my mind Could have been's eat away in side now Praise God and pass the bottle of Beam Because tonight I can't seem to say what I mean Don't know if I would even if I could, Amen Somehow this seems like borrowed time Pay it no mind, everything is fine But sometimes I'd rather hear laughter while this whole place died A johnny jump-up is a lovely thing A pint of cider and some whiskey I had four dead inside of me Just to hear this jackass sing his line about How he used to hang out somewhere "back in the day" Knowing terms only that an asshole would say So I sat there drinking more Thinking about drinking more Nelson Algren came to me And said clebrate the ugly things The beat up side of what they call pride could be the measure of these days God save Otis Redding because I know he's never gone As sick falls from this mouth hear me sing it wrong Is it "cigarettes and coffee" now or Dreams to be Remembered I'll leave regrets for dead and sing along So I'm reaching for the phone I don't want to be alone I want to get some friends here tonight I got a basement full of booze and some blues to lose I'll ignore the whole world tonight It will be alright (copy and pasted from Plyrics)

I wonder when people will understand.Just because a song has the same chords doesnt mean the songs are the same

if they use the exact same colors in pretty close to the exact same places in the exact same structures then yeah, one's ripping off the other

@@gatsu8634 that is an absurd claim to make, there are thousands and thousands of original sing along punk songs

The riff doesn’t have the open-string bursts which bookend the riff to “American Idiot” which make it sound extra visceral. If you think it’s a rip-off you’re a dunce.

I thought that too, It's crazy how they've copied two parts of this song 20 years apart
@manoloalbanalban721Ай бұрын
@@eeeeeeee9084 This song has nothing to do with Look ma no brains, neither in lyrics nor in anything, Green day copied look ma no brains from the song: Estigmas en tus Neuronas by Rock punk JHR, song of 2018, where the mexican musician Rock punk JHR says in his lyrics that the world was left without neurons, even Green day copied almost all of the rhythms of song Estigmas en tus Neuronas by Rock punk JHR . By the way, did you know that the mexican musician Rock punk JHR is the only original musician in the world an in the history. Even Rock punk JHR was the creator of Covid-19, with his music that comes real, Rock punk JHR released his song: Green daisy of America, in december 2019, from his album Apocalipsis radio, and just 6 days later appear covid-19. and that Rock punk JHR not is famous.

Actually, in 1995 Green Day released a song called "Walking Contradiction" that has the exact same chord progression as this song. So Green Day blatantly copied a song that blatantly copied themselves.
@bryantrudy56810 ай бұрын
That sounds absolutely nothing like the opening riff to Doublewhiskeycokenoice, but American Idiot sure as fuck does.
@sedubius4 ай бұрын
Dillinger 4 did not copy Green Day, it was the other way around. It was a D4 demo tape that contained this song. Somehow Billy got a hold of it and held on for 10 years before releasing American Idiot.

Actually.... who cares
@timebandit2154 ай бұрын
You're wrong, walking contradiction is lifted chord for chord with 'Do it again' by the kinks

Green Day has a long history of copying music. Listen to Hitchin a Ride then Stray Cat Strut, same song....
@minuscaseus3 ай бұрын
@@sedubius "copying" man it's punk rock. Just like folk, copying doesn't exist in the genre. There's only so many combinations of 3 chords you can play
