My beam and electronic scale can vary by a tenth gr or sometimes match up . I don't sweat a tenth gr variance as either scale has that much tolerance . You'll never see a tenth gr difference on the target . But if your OCD gets the best of you , you can adjust the shot under the pan of the beam scale .
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
I was wondering if that would make them read the same weight as each other though. Shot under the pan adjusts the zero, not the poise.
@jamespollard1670 Жыл бұрын
The adjustment knob adjusts the zero , the shot calibrates it to weigh correctly @@TinManReloading

Yo! TinMan! Good to see you. I had a similar issue with an RCBS scale that was off. I took the bottom pan apart and adjusted the shot in there. Great vid! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

Hey, Walter! Good to hear from you. Yeah, I had no idea about the shot under the pan until Uncle Jim and others mentioned it. I think we’re good now!
@cw2a Жыл бұрын
The support for the pan should come apart and contain ballast. Lead /Steel shot or chips. Use ck weights to confirm.
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
I’ll have to look into that more! I saw the screw on it before I put the sticker on. The sticker weighed 0.8 grains and it got me pretty much exactly where I wanted it to be.
@unclejim2330 Жыл бұрын
I would trust the Dillon for consistency (if it’s cleaned) they don’t tend to wonder like your RCBS just did, check weights tell all! That’s not the stock pan, mine is 140.6gr and gold. Take your pan holder apart to modify the weights inside ***and get a pan that sits flush*** If you want to go Billy Bob mark a new line or make a sticker. 😂😂😂 Mine is always tits with check weights unless it gets really dusty, clean moving parts with alcohol. 👍
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
I think I did everything to clean it up. Wasn’t yours reading light with one of your check weights? I remember that video. These are good scales. You were right, the pan holder was bent a little bit out of round. I fixed that. Now to keep obsessing over it 😂

Looks like it’s a real Dillon at least. I’d say you got a pretty good deal there. There’s gotta be a way to adjust that thing.

I’m happy with it. Thanks! And you can adjust anything with a file and a ball pen hammer 😂

Good to see you TinMan, that's a nice pick up for $32. As long as you keep it clean they work great. Mine is a back up also for the Frankford Arsenal intellidropper 👊😎🇺🇲

I did exactly what you did in this video with my Rcbs 10-10 and had the same results. Idk if the Dillon scale has the option to add lead shot to the pan holder. But that’s what I did and to get it right on the .00 you can file a bit of material directly off the pan itself.
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
Yep! I had to add a bit under the pan. You’re right!
@ARPatriot1776Official Жыл бұрын
Where that pan sets you can unscrew it and it will have lead in it. You can calibrate it by removing lead or adding lead. But it takes a lot of fiddling. Get it to read what your chargemaster says. Hope I make sense of this lol
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
That just adjusts the zero. It still read light after doing that unfortunately. But I didn’t know about that until I saw the comments on this video! Check out the next one I put up today. Thanks, AR Guns 👍🏻

Like others have mentioned just find a pan you like and calibrate the scale to it. It's easy to adjust by altering the weights inside. Here is a video I recorded awhile ago but never uploaded that contained information about adjusting the calibration. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5_En4mOjdZgpKMfeature=shared

I have check weights and that's the only way to know. However, you may call Dillon and see if you can buy a replacement pan for your scale (One that fits the holder). I believe that is a O-Haus scale made under contract for Dillon although I may be wrong about that. I have two RCBS 5-10 scales and they zero spot on with each other. I trust the beam over the electronic scales and there isn't any battery's to go dead when you are right in the meddle of changing or checking weights of bullets. I would say "Good Score" on the scale for what you paid for it. Peace out dude, Dave
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
Yep, the pan isn’t the original to the scale. You’re right. And yes, Ohaus made these for Dillon. I’m happy with it! Thanks, Dave 👍🏻

Good deal!!!!!!!!! Keep your eyes open for a set of grains check weights... I found a RCBS set from a guy here and got them for $15. Ones that are in grams will work but you got to the math to convert them to grains... it's just a PITA. Depends on how anal you want to get with the scales. Like others have said you can take apart the support pan and add or take out the pieces of weight that they use to balance the scale out instead of the sticker. The sticker isn't going to maintain it's weight as you drag the pan across the paper. I just clipped off some very small pieces of a culled bullet to balance my scale.

I’ll keep my eyes peeled for check weights! Probably wouldn’t be a bad thing to have on hand. You guys all nailed it with the shot in the pan. I didn’t even know that was a thing. Lol. Thanks, Les!

Those scales are great. Now yours can collect dust like mine 😂. In case nobody told ya yet, but you can add or remove weight from the pan…look for the screw under your sticker 🤦🏻♂️. Go easy on the grease 😂
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
I was wondering what that screw was for 😂 I’ll just rub some pineapple pizza grease on the fulcrum for accuracy.
