Some of the buses in this video have doors on the driver side just behind the driver's seat. I have never seen that configuration on school buses before. Is their a reason for this configuration?

How do the drivers know where to park?

My guess is that the buses in the center leave earlier than the buses that park along the outside. Generally speaking, as a driver if there isn't assigned parking, you get into the rhythm of parking in or around the same place everyday. Provided you have a culture where stealing another driver's "unassigned" parking spot is frowned upon.
