This is probably more powerful than you believe. I walked away from music (trying to be an artist), a long time ago. When I decided to get back into (on the production side), a few years back, the way production is now is completely different. (yes I am an ol' head..LOL) The only thing I am able to lean is remembering why I started, and a quote that I have on my desk: "When you get to those low moments, find that same energy from when you started". Thanks for this video.

One of the most pivotal moments for me in my progression was when I realized that there are no rules with this stuff. I used to go into every beat saying (i want the end product to sound like this and I need to do xyz to get there) now I just start laying stuff down and go with the flow. I always end up with a better beat when I just allow my creativity to lead me instead of trying to sound like someone else.

it’s funny, if I ever feel in doubt I listen to either ‘XO tour lif3’ or the ‘starboy’ album’ they give me a feeling I can’t express however I know when I’m good enough I can do so through music. That’s what keeps me going! We appeicate you Dillon!👾

Blessings I have a similar story .I was running with a crew rapping....the more I got into learning to make beats I grew isolated....Glad u shared. but I didn't pick back up with music until covid and got bored and pulled out my old all in one mac (I have videos if yall care to hear my old garbage I'm mid 40s so youtube is a blessing being we didn't have it. Thank you this I really do. I 've been making beats for years now and I suddenly just stopped honestly, which now I feels like I gave up on my real purpose. For me in general it just doesn't feel the same like how it was back in the day when I used to be consistent. Brother, how can a i learn to do videoblogs about music prod like this, can u do a little tutorial like a how to record yourself and things like that, i think your videos are specially cool because of that, your personality and how clean everything looks

One thing that might help you as a producer is recording your screen - and I just use OBS for that (free software). In terms of the video editing - I'll probably never do a video tbh. You can find way better video editing tutorials on youtube - just looking for stuff outside of music and will find some great stuff (Peter McKinnon, Matti Haapoja, Adobe in a Minute).
