Dim green light on Macbook Charger Fix, might work for you

This issue is more serious than it seems. I didn't pay much attention to it for a while, and just reshaping the MagSafe used to fix it, but it can actually short out and permanently stop charging.

My MacBook 2010 doesnt hold a charge anymore so it has to be plugged in and sometimes when I plug it in and turn it on the charger is dim and green and the fans will be on maximum for no reason

Mhm, that is quite strange behaviour indeed. I can't really make out what the reason for these symptoms could be. Generally I would recommend to do a full check-up on your MacBook if you have never done that in the past. There are good tutorials on how to open up your MacBook, clean the fans, apply new thermal paste (this may be super important for heat). Maybe oyu can even find a replacement battery for your MacBook. I was able to find replacement batteries about two years ago.

I need to check this. I used my 2010 MacBook Pro to record vinyls. Recently repasted and this was a problem.

Hey there, did you end up checking it? I am not sure how common this actually is, especially when you have never openend up your MacBook and reassembled it with this mistake. I would be interested to know!

@@magnuswobser8414 I haven’t checked it. But I did practically take apart the thing to repaste because of the geniuses who decides all the important parts should be on different sides.

Thank you! This may be my problem. Now that I think about it, my speakers started sounding busted right about the same time I had this charging issue. Maybe it did short something out in there? I just ordered this part and it'll be here tomorrow! Here's to hoping!!

I removed the battery for 30 seconds and put it back in. Charges now!
