Cruiser cleans up a bit more in my opinion sounds a bit nicer too, bassier. The duncan is a bit messy and reckless sounding more treble too. Both great pickups though! Its about preference of course.

Great video and playing. Both are great pickups, I like the hot SD for soloing, and the Dimarzio for the better clarity in the rhythmic parts. thanks for sharing! Awesome video

Nice playing. Pups are cool both of them.

I've had a Dimarzio Tone Zone S in the bridge and it sounds really good. Both as a humbucker and when split to single-coil.

Awesome demo ! The 2 are very close, the JB Jr being a bit more spanky with the middle PU, and a bit fatter by itself. Thx for uploading :)

Spank with middle pu is 'cos' is splited. DM not.

I have a Lil’ Screamin Demon and swear by it. It has an aggressive bite with a nice blend of harmonic content. Their JB Jr. neck pickup sounds nice as well. I’m not finding the Little 59 all that impressive. While the top end crunches up nicely there isn’t any meat, not even in the mids. I really like the DiMarzio rail pickups. They have a beautiful even tonality and a vocal like quality. You hear more note and less texture, in contrast to the Seymour Duncan line. I’ve used a Fast Track 1, Satch Track, Chopper and a BC-2 among others and love them all. If you want the sound of a powerful humbucker in the bridge but your guitar is routed for a single, the BC-2 is your answer.

This is a good comparison between the two, I bet in person and there was even a bigger difference. I grew to hate the Little 59 after nearly a decade of using it, mids were the focus, not much low end or treble clarity. The cruiser is more single coil focused, i woukd recommend a Dimarzio Pro Track to get clarity, punch with moderate output.
@misakul8 ай бұрын
Thanks👍, yes you are right, Cruiser is little more single coil. I like both, but now I have stacked pickup (from.my friend Kingpickups) in bridge position, and I think I finally find the right one.

As with all Seymour's I was expecting the Little '59 to be on the bright side. Like when I've scrapped a JB humbucker and swapped it out for a Super Distortion or a Tone Zone. I'm hearing quite the opposite here with the DMZ Cruiser sounding brighter than I prefer..
@misakul2 жыл бұрын
Yes, and DMZ should be brighter, because its rail and less powerfull. This combination usually do pickups sound brighter.
@russellcrea97012 жыл бұрын
The cruiser is possibly the brightest voiced of the Dimarzio single coil size rail pick ups. Most people would use it in the neck position.
@Mister_Greg2 жыл бұрын
@@russellcrea9701 DMZ makes both a neck and a bridge version of the Cruiser. They sound a little different from one another. The neck version is much thinner and sounds brighter as a consequence. That said I prefer the Fast Track 1 in the bridge with a Cruiser neck in the middle and a Cruise bridge in the neck, but this Cruiser bridge in the bridge sounds very nice. If bridge + middle quack is important then I’d opt for stacked singles. The Virtual Vintage Blues sounds great in the bridge. It’s tough and has a mellowed top end so it sounds great with distortion. The Injector Neck in the bridge is the next step up and works really well. Quack suffers a bit but you can get a nice amount if you use something thin and bright in the middle.

I think the sample at 4:00 shows that with a fair bit of tone cut and a mid boost from say, a tube screamer, you can still get the strat-sounding Cruiser to sound warm. It's a trade off between the lil 59 sounding inherently fatter but ruining the position 2 out of phase "Knopler" sound demonstrated earlier, which to me is a sound the other classic guitar designs do not do convincingly. I have nevertheless been impressed with the way Suhr Classic Strats manage to get a good humbucker /single coil combination to sound nice in position 2, by cleverly tapping the humbucker and wiring things so that the untapped coil sees 250K in position 2 but 500k in position 1 (on the volume control). For that I think you need a super switch and an extra 500k resistor which connects in parallel to the 500k volume potentiometer when single coil positions are engaged. All said, let's remember how Jeff beck got sounds from the back pickup of a Strat!

Nice and in depth comment 👍🙂 I used both HB for some time, but now I'm using hum canceling pickup from King pickups and this is the right way for me 🙂

Great Video. I want to upgrade the neck PU from my Strat now. That's why I found your video. Mine has too much from this bad 1500 kHz. I liked the clean sound (middle position) with the diMarzio coil splitted. How did you decide?
@misakul2 жыл бұрын
I Don't split Dimarzio. It's quite weak pickup so try not to split and maybe little lover than the neck and bridge

How's the volume difference between these 2 and the original bridge pickup/ in comparison with the neck and middle pickup?
@misakul2 жыл бұрын
Not a big difference. You can adjust it to fit with the others by move pickup bit lower or higher.
