Great reaction. What I loved about Dimash’s interpretation of this song is that it’s not depressing or sad, but optimistic. He emphasizes, in the beginning, the phrase “don’t want to be by myself _anymore.”_ The cadenza at the end is, as you say, playful, even hopeful. This is the song of a person who is ready to reach out again and embrace life and friendship.

The original was written and sung by Eric Carmen in the 70's. Was a huge hit for him and the Celine Dion did a cover of it later on.
