He is singing this song for the Tokyo Jazz Festival from his studio in China. Due to Covid lockdowns the performers were unable to attend in person. Supposedly the festival sent monitors to make sure the singers sang live all the way through. ❤

👉 Dimash sang Ikanaide (live and for the first time in Japanese) on the Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2021(in his studio). Because of the “pandemic”, the annual Tokyo Jazz Festival took place online again. Filmmakers verify that the videos have not been edited and manipulated, so the singer sings live. In the same year, the song was used as the theme song for a Chinese-Japanese television series Farewell, Lixianglan, about the Japanese woman Yoshiko Yamaguchi (*1920 - † 2014) a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan and became famous in China. However, when the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy. She was deported to Japan and longed for China. Ms. Yamaguchi did not return to China until many years as deputy environment minister in the Japanese parliament. The song is a metaphor as the lyrics speak of how a person should hide what they are feeling. Koji Tamaki sent a wonderful message to Dimash, thanking him, and praising him for singing his song in Japanese. I heard other Asian artists perform the song many times, but despite their magnificent vocal skills, none seemed to capture the true meaning of the original lyrics. The composer of this song, Koji Tamaki, said that Dimash’s was the only cover that came close to what he had in mind when he wrote the song. The last time Koji sang this song he sobbed so violently that it was painful to watch. I didn’t know if he would be able to finish the song. 🎉❤🎉

Wu’s YT channel is very good with an important back story. Just watch it without making a reaction and thoroughly enjoy it. This was round 4 in the show. 🤗

Für mich persönlich gibt es zur Zeit keinen Sänger auf der Welt der so eine überragende Stimme hat und solche Emotionen damit verbinden kann. Das war im Studio aber Life gesungen ohne viel Technik, Hall, Echo und dem vervielfachen der Stimme, wie es heute Gang und Gebe ist. Ich sage dir voraus das heute über 85% der Sänger einbrechen würden müssten sie mit so einer minimalen Unterstützung der Technik für die Stimme singen. Gratuliere wieder ein großartiger Song.

I so agree 1000% with everything you said. This song is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written and the combined with the most perfect voice, it’s pure magic. He also sings this song (with different lyrics) in Mandarin, and the title of that song is “Autumn Strong” or “Late Autumn”, and it is gorgeous, too. My favorite performance of “Autumn Strong” is live in Kiev when Dimash wears a red suit. The end of the song is truly spectacular. Thanks for this great reaction! ❤

This is the same melody but slightly different lyrics of the song Autumn Strong which Dimash sings in mandarin. He usually sings Autumn Strong at concerts but sometimes he does a mash up of both versions. Once, he asked the audience which version they wanted and people shouted for their own favourite and Dimash said OK I’ll sing it in Kazak but he didn’t, he did the mash up, I believe.

This version "Ikanaide" (行かないで) ) is the original, from 1989, composed by Koji Tamaki (famous Japanese singer, born in 1958) with lyrics by Goro Matsui. The version "Autumn Strong" (Late Autumn), sung in Chinese, uses the same song, but has another lyrics (Yaqui Cheung, from 1993) and another theme: It talks about the Japanese actress Yoshiko Yamagushi, very dear to the Chinese, who was deported when they discovered her Japanese origin (his real name was Li Xiang Lan and we're talking about World War II, where Japan was China's enemy) and never returned to China. In the original version, the lyrics are more intimate, sentimental and more recognized worldwide. It means: "Please don't go!".
