I was halfway through editing my first reaction to this performance when I found out Gloria Wu made a fantastic translation and history video for this performance, so I have included her translation and link to her video below.
Gloria Wu's video: • Dimash translated: the...
Gloria Wu's translation:
Dimash: To master a Chinese song in one week is really too difficult for me.
The lyrics are especially profound. I am truly moved when I listen to the song. That’s why I chose this song. My accent is the most problematic. I worry that members of the audience may not understand what I am singing.
For the sake of the audience, I must devote one hundred percent. That’s the only way for the audience to respond in kind, to accept me one hundred percent. In order to show gratitude to the passionate audience, I am performing a Chinese song on stage for the first time. No matter how much hard work I have to put in, my only wish is for everyone to witness the result.
Song lyrics in English:
Autumn settles in my heavy heart
Wine mingles with a thousand feelings
Farewells are as many as fallen leaves in this season
With your hand clutched at my heart
I need you to remember our unspoken promise
I do not fear longing
But your sorrow haunts me
We have but the wind to blame for our parting
I do not fear solitude
But your loneliness haunts me
No one will hear of our desolation
Autumn settles in my heavy heart
Wine mingles with a thousand feelings
Farewells are as many as fallen leaves in this season
With your hand clutched at my heart
I need you to remember our unspoken promise
I do not fear longing
But your sorrow haunts me
We have but the wind to blame for our parting
I do not fear solitude
But your loneliness haunts me
No one will hear of our desolation
I do not fear longing
But your sorrow haunts me
We have but the wind to blame for our parting
I do not fear solitude
But your loneliness haunts me
No one will hear of our desolation

Sweet, beautiful angel Dimash. Never disappoints. I’m glad you’re back on the Dimash train. There’s a Chinese artist on KZbin called The portrait art, who drew a really beautiful picture of Dimash and he also reacted to this song, according to him Dimash’s pronunciation is really good. He also talks in depth about the lyrics. Worth watching.

Actually, Dimash was the ONLY foreign competitor on “The Singer” in 2017. And the youngest. And totally unknown in China. The other competitors were all established Chinese singers with substantial fan bases. Thank you for returning to Dimash!!

Again, this intensity touched me ... every time... like shocked... what a deep real artist... gratitude that we can experience this... The woman at the end is her! The woman the song is telling about! This was a photo of her, as an old woman!!!!!

So good to have you back with us, Tre! You’re right, this is one of Dimash’s finest performances, on many levels. The Gloria Wu backstory is not exactly complete, based on other things I’ve read. For one thing, Yoshiko did return to China, albeit many years later as an old woman. For another, her Japanese identity was officially revealed in order to prevent her execution by the Chinese government for treason, due to her supposedly degrading portrayal of Chinese women in a few Japanese films. Because she was of Japanese origin, she was deported instead of being executed. Something along those lines anyway. Ironically, in Japan she was frequently reviled for being too Chinese. None of which detracts from the haunting beauty of this song, or Dimash’s equally compelling performance. Truly one of his best! A Florida Dear.

Chinese reactors have said his Mandarin was brilliant, so much so they thought he was a Chinese National! His outfit is how they used to dress in China, that’s why the audience were delighted to see how he was dressed when he came on to the stage!

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than nine languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices , Dimash has his own style and is one of the forerunners of the "Popera" he also has a very pleasant, Humble and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, Tenor, Soprano, against Tenor, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, Staccato, whistle tone, reaching a D8 live at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 192 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela🇻🇪, "Dears" Forever ❤️👍🏻 Sorry for copying and pasting my informative comment in ALL the Video reactions to Dimash what I see but I do it with the intention of sharing information about him and what I think that in the music industry there are many artists who have been successful and have no talent and are bad people and they do not set a good example for the youth, Dimash and his music deserve to triumph in America, Europe and the whole WORLD, do you want to have already read my comment please come by without problem there is always someone who for the first time knows this information and I won't get tired of sharing it with all my friends"Dear" around the world, thanks for reading and for supporting Dimash 🙏🏻S.O.S. I have probably heard this song at least 50 times, and it makes me cry every single time. So beautiful and sad and so beautifully sung. Dimash just hit it out of the park! I saw a video done by an artist who speaks fluent Mandarin and he stated that Dimash pronounced the lyrics EXACTLY like a native Chinese person would have pronounced it.

Masterpiece that no Japanese nor Chinese singers would ever be able to surpass. Couldn't even dream of surpassing. This song was composed and originally sung by a Japanese. Then various Chinese singers (not necessarily from China) did covers on this song.

I really love your reactions to Dimash and this one was great...you noticed so many details that I didn't see in 4 years watching this performance and after so many reactors it is always interesting to hear a new way of seeing and hearing this beautiful song and meaning of it. This is btw still one of my favorite performance by Dimash and it always make me cry. I am glad that your plants are doing great and can't wait for next reaction to my angel Dimash. Welcome back, Tre, you've been missed. This performance of "Autumn Strong" has stayed in my Top 3 of Dimash performances for 4 years. After watching probably hundreds of reactions to it, your reaction is one of the best I've seen. I've always thought too that the soprano section represents the actress, and that the pure artistry of Dimash's cry on "NO ONE" is soul piercing. Thank you for taking your time with this one, and for bringing your heart to it. You've noticed and said everything I could hope to hear about this performance. (Plants that have music played for them grow better than those without, and evidence shows that they do best of all with classical music. I think if you play "Autumn Strong" for them every day they will be happy.)

Hi, Tré, good to see you listening to Dimash again, I love your reactions! This is a farewell song, and we all know how hard the loss is, so we all can feel this song very deeply. I mean, yes, we do know that changes in life are inevitable, but it is only human to mourn our losses… Now, about Dimash “showing off” as it is often misinterpreted… Hope this would not sound invasive or rude from me, I mean it in the gentlest possible way of explanation. Please remember he comes from classical music background, therefore, (more often than not) the format he uses to construct a song is the format of La grande aria. It took centuries to develop in such a way which gives the most pleasure to the audience, and this is what it looks like for the last couple of centuries: Aria consists of three parts. First part is ‘recitative’ - introduction part, almost speech-like. Second comes ‘cantabile’, lyrical part, and then ‘cabaletta’ - the climax of the peace. Now, there is also an unwritten fourth part, called ‘cadenza’, which is the free part left to the creativity and skill of the singer, so he/she can give their contribution. Cadenza can be inserted between 2nd and 3rd part, or sung at the very end of the aria, it can even be a part of another aria (remember that Ave Maria bit inserted in Love is like a dream). This is what Dimash does. Not to show off, but to give more of himself to his listeners. And finally - the plants! They are lovely, good for you to have taken them! Mind you, the baby and aloe need much less water, like once in 10 days, and not much base to grow in, so don’t re-pot aloe yet When you do, use the ceramic pot because it’s heavier, so it’ll provide more stability. Both like the sun too, direct sunlight will not be bad for them. The third one does need somewhat more water but don’t drown it either :D And keep it at east facing window, or in shade somewhere, does not like much of direct sunlight . Good luck and have fun growing them!

So glad you are back with Dimash and with my favourite performance as well! I have watched it like a hundred times and you have pointed out things I had never seen or heard before. Kudos to you for that. From a Chinese reactor I know he did a great job on the pronunciation which is so hard, because it us a tonal language and to fit that in with the melidy is quite something. I recently discovered the origjnal Japanese song , Ikanaide , by Koji Tamaki. I will send you the link in case you might like to listen to that version. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJuWkpVtmNqSaZI

Hello Tre, welcome back. Every time I watch and listen to this performance, I go through at least two sheets of tissue. I see you are well connected with tender human feelings. Good for you. I don't know whether you have reacted to his "Qargym-ai". If you haven't, I recommend it. It is dedicated to his principal music teacher who died a short while ago of COVID-19. Talk about emotional vocal rendition of grief ! Well, if you decide to react to this, you will understand what I means. Good luck and stay safe.

For your plants, be sure to let them dry out between waterings. Succulents don't like their roots to be wet. But when you do water, give the plant a good dose and then wait for it to dry out again before watering it again.

There’s a Chinese reactor I think called theportraitart or something that does a long breakdown & he was blown away, like seriously he said Dimash sang this song as if he was a native speaker of the language, & stressed how hard it was to do that. I think a lot of their shocked faces in the 1st part was his command of the language as well as his face

I watched a Chinese American do reviews for Autumn Strong and Daybreak. ThePortraitArt did these and said not only was Dimashs articulation perfect, but that he actually sang the essence of what the songs were about. You were right in saying you thought he hailed it by watching the people watching it.

Hi Tre, If you would like to understand a bit more of Dimash's motivation for the song check out the original very emotional version by Koji Tamaki. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJuWkpVtmNqSaZI From what I understand from a Japanese couple that does reactions too (Mama Clare). The Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung adapted the song (Akanaide into Cantonese, calling it Li Xiang lan, with the meaning of the song different from that of the original song by Koji Tamaki. In 1993 Jacky Cheung adapted it again to Chinese Mandarin, calling Late Autumn. The Chinese name Li Xiang lan, rendered in Japanese as Ri Koran but her Japanese name is Yoshiko Yamaguchi. It is the Late Autumn version that Dimash used to create his "version" of the song, but the original song Ikanaide is what motivated him emotionally.

Ok so I just saw another performance of Autumn Strong he does in a red suit. Don’t know if you’d have the same reaction, at 1st I was so in love with this specific performance, the crowd. But he does something with it at points (one especially) that just literally knocks the wind out of me every time. Great to see you again with a well articulated Dimash reaction. This will always one of my top three favorite songs, even though the other two probably change daily 😉. Congratulations on being a plant dad, I hope it is very fulfilling for you. The only advice I have is don't over water, make sure you talk to them, and play Dimash for them 🥰. I have a whole room full of potted plants from a small cutting I took of my mother's plant, which was at least 50 years old when I cut it 40 years ago. So a living legacy almost a hundred years old.
