Li Yugang: Ancient Chinese tradition prevented women from performing for men at the Old Opera House in Beijing. From this tradition came a style called “Nan Dan” in which the man plays a female role in the Beijing Opera. One that was a restriction, today turned into culture and the greatest exponent of this culture in China is the singing and performer Li Yugang: Who created his own theatrical play (Who toured the world in 2015) and released several CDs (successfully of sales) he won 4 Denny award in Beijing.

Li Yugang has been professionally trained to sing like a female. And, no, the note Dimash hit isn't quite "dog whistle" range. he does that at the end of his original live performance of "Unforgettable Day."

The first duet between Li and Dimash with piping (vocal gymnastics) was the Diva dance from the movie the 5th Element.(adapted a bit for the duet) Whistle note was G7. The second song was the Drunken Concubine. Li plays concubine and Dimash the Emperor. The concubine and emperor are talking before the concubine must commit suicide but I dont know enough of the story to know why. This is why there are 2 thrones on stage. Li is a famous opera guy who plays womans parts. Great reaction. This is one of my favorite duets of all time. Best wishes from 🇨🇦

Lee Yugan es una delas mejores voces del teatro operistico chino, especializado en hacer voces femeninas, el tema se llama concubina, están interpretando una discusión de una pareja. Love this performance!!! Drunken Concubine in dialogue the tragic story between a famous concubine of the Chinese imperial court, Li Yugang in that role, and the emperor, Dimash’s rol that’s why the throne at stage. At the end of the story the concubine is poisoned as a result of court intrigues. Li Yugang is a famous artist considered China’s National Treasure and he is a nan dan singer (male playing female roles) art forms from Peking Opera, giving the traditional art a modern edge. The way he moves (knees bent together and those "meows" have a special meaning in the traditional opera). What is most amazing about Li is that he couldn’t study in the university or conservatory of music, he is absolutely autodidact which is so admirable!! 👌👍💥 ❤🎤🔝 One of the things a I love the most of Dimash is his versatility and his ability to show us different cultures through the music. In this case with Li Yugang, they have made a perfect match with the traditional Peking Opera style, beautiful 🌟

Your face was prizeless🤭❤️. He sings with a great Chinese Opera singer who usually plays a female in classic Peking opera Li Yugang. That's why he's trained to sing so high. This nasal singing is traditional and he is a very famous singer in China. The song was called Drunken Concubine and it is from the Shanghai Spring Festival Gala in China. The two harmonize so well together. What I love about this performance is the contrast. The traditional with the modern. It fits together so fantastically. Obviously you didn’t know the movie The 5th Element with Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich and Gary Oldman😅. This song was written by Eric Serra for an alien opera singer in this movie and was not considered singable for a human voice. Parts of it were computer generated. There a some female singer who performed this song, but in my opinion not as precise as Dimash. And he is a male! This special note was a F#7. But it’s not his highest😅. Please react to the Diva Dance from his Bastau concert. He performed this song on his first solo concert in Kazakhstan called Bastau in 2017. It was after he finished The Singer competition. That whistle tone is Dimashes regular whistle tone. If you want to hear Dimash sing a crazy high whistle tone you should react to AN UNFORGETTABLE DAY GAKKU LIVE VERSION 2017 when he do the crazy dog whistle D8 tone noone can believe what they heard. Best regards from Norway 🇳🇴
