Yes, it's obvious he didn't feel comfortable at the beginning. This was his third performance. In episode 1, he introduced himself to the Chinese audience (and fellow competitors and the world) with SOS, a song in French he had done previously several times, and although his pronuntiation wasn't perfect, French wasn't a widespread language for the audience to notice it. He blew the roof off with that performance, and won the round against well known established singers. This first episode was taped on Jan 10 2017, but aired on Jan 21. In the meantime, the 500 audience members did the voting, and on Jan 21 when people got to see him, he got instant following of millions. The SOS rendition was a life changing performance, he must have felt like he was flying in a fantasy world, and must have found it hard to believe that his childhood dreams were becoming true before his own eyes. He shot this "Show must go on" performance the same day episode 1 was aired Can you imagine the pressure?? First song in English, a language he did not know, and worse, a song associated with a legend like Freddie Mercury! He must have been afraid of f*ck it up and embarrass himself. Знаете, ведь сколько хитовых песен перепел Димаш... Даже не могу теперь слушать в других версиях, каверах. Димаш берет любую песню и делает свое видение этой песни, совершенно непохожую на первоисточник, но не менее гениальную. А еще, я заметила, что песни других исполнителей звучат как бы в формате 2D, у Димаша же они приобретают объем, фактуру, полетность, эмоциональность(очень яркий пример :песня Челентано-абсолютно актерская песня, Адриано именно играл в этой песне, полупроговаривал, полупропевал ее) А Димаш сделал совершенно другую версию и она классная. Не устаю восхищаться его гением. Молюсь только об одном-пусть он будет счастлив!

Brian May from Queen saw his performance and was blown away, said how much he liked his performance 💖 oh and his English is pretty good now 💖 He looks like a giant next to that guitarist, he is 6ft 3 😁 Dimash is not nervous and did all his own arrangements here, much to the surprise of the musical director he didn't think such a young singer had the experience, little did he know he has been doing this since he was in primary school. He has a deep baritone voice naturally yet he can sing in any register. You need to hear him in his duet with another Kazakh opera singer, Sundet, they did a specially written duet from Notre Dam de Paris, it was originally sung by one person, its acted out perfectly too. Just do a KZbin search for Dimash and Sundet 💖

Dimash makes the musical arrangement of several of his interpretations, perhaps that is why he "makes his own", also has songs written and / or composed by himself. He has university studies in classical music, contemporary music and jazz. He's currently doing his master's degree in composition. Plays several instruments, piano, dombra, guitar, drums. As you will see, Dimash is not just another singer. On one occasion I read that a professional musician said: "Dimash is a musician first and a singer second. That is why he is able to show off his skills so effectively. His vocal technique serves the music".

Hi there! I hope you are feeling better today! I agree with you, Dimash was a little uncomfortable at the begining. This was a hughe competition, and, at first, it was only for professional and well known chinese singers. Dimash was the "experiment", as he said, the first singer non chinese. The production of the show invited him, because he won the show Slavic Bazar on 2016, and made him famous in Russia and other asian countries. The "I am Singer" show takes almost 4 months, with 14 presentation. Dimash doesn't speak or understand mandarin. As his own words, he felt very lonely, he missed his family and friends, and, in addition, he had to learn to sing in english and mandarin, one song per week. He said he always feel anxious every time he has to perform, cause he need to give the best to his audience. Until today.

I agree Adeline. 1 week to rehearse is a short time and Dimash did even better when he decided to sing in Mandarin. 1 week to learn words, whole sentences in another language that he does not speak, is very brave. I always admire Dimash for these attitudes. Hugs BRAZIL

The show "Singer"is a compition for wellknown professional singer.He got "zero"reputation bfr that show,he had to leave if he got the lowe vote, this show is about repution not all about how good you are. And also for that program he had to leave his country and family 3-4 month,you can imagine how heavy the pressure he was suffer. Thank you for your reaction again. I enjoy your comments! He may have been nervous for this show. Alai, his mentor, or coach for the show, is a Kazakh singer and producer, and fluent in Mandarin and Kazakh. He had been gone (don't know how long) during the week of rehearsals for this show because of another engagement. A delay in his flight to return caused him to miss this show. Being the youngest on the show, just being in China a short time, not understanding the language, and no mentor that night, it is very possible you were seeing nerves, or an out of his comfort zone feeling to begin with. I can only guess though.

Since you have done episodes 1 through 3 now please use stories & performance with subtitles added for the non English songs from the channel Gloria Wu. She has the story for both episode 4 Autumn Strong & episode 8 Daybreak. They are both VERY EMOTIONAL for us women but you are a BIG STRONG MAN so you probably won't need tissues but they might get to you a little bit. As an emotional woman having seen the stories & read the words I can't stop crying every time. Some of the non English songs don't have stories but they do have subtitles.

@@wolfrock2270 Sorry if I am wrong but as an emotional woman both stories & words from the channel Gloria Wu for Autumn Strong & Daybreak make me not able to stop crying but I have seen male after male reactor use from Gloria's channel with not a drop of tears from 19 out of 20 of them so I figured it is a man thing even though there was that rare man. If you can react to the story & performance with subtitles from Gloria Wu's channel for either or both Autumn Strong & Daybreak & actually cry I will apologize to you again but I think men are just raised to not cry about most things. I know it is that way with my father & brothers.
