Dimash's directorial debut, a prayer for his homeland and for the whole world, filmed in the Almaty area of Kazakhstan. The message here is so inspirational, that the hardships we go through make us stronger and that we will prevail., nothing to do with history but more that his country has come through all that has happened to it., a message that hits you right in your soul. His talents know no bounds, the cinematography is top notch, he never fails to impress at whatever he puts his hand to.

Thank you 🙏 This is a work of Art with so much symbolism. Borne out of the pandemic, pain & suffering, reflection of both past & present, with prayer & hope for the future. It should also be noted that in Kz history artists , poets, singers & musicians were deported, imprisoned & were killed. This piece is a masterpiece even for our world today. I believe that this work goes to the core of who Dimash is as a human being. Plymouth UK 🇬🇧

Hallo Caleb , great reaction, thanks . This is a director debut of Dimash. Not only about his country, but about all world. A beautiful, moving song-prayer for a better tomorrow for ours countries and the world. It's hard today, people are dying from coronavirus, the heart is breaking. However, one has to hope and do whatever it takes to survive it, like all other difficult periods in history, and humanity will rise like a phoenix from the ashes. Dimash lost two of his artistic mentors to the pandemic.... Great vocals and a beautiful directorial debut of Dimash💖 Beautiful, smart, thought-provoking video, it may be time to reevaluate your approach to your own life and our shared planet. Stay safe and healthy. Dear forever

Dimash’s music teacher died of Coronavirus, bringing beauty and music to the world right to the end. Dimash, in an interview on Kazakh television, spoke of his teacher with great respect and reverence. For me the composer playing a piano until it is so charred it is no longer playable before submitting to dying is a powerful portrayal and remembrance of him.

This is a prayer for the fate of the Earth, the World not only Di country. The past is mixed with the present. Everything beautiful is burning. Dimash's relatives, his teacher died of the coronavirus. For me, this fire is self sacrifice. But the song also gives hope. The last shot when suddenly the green and the sun returns to the mountain. This symbolism is a cry, a prayer that people start to think differently, that they do not live only for themselves, otherwise everything beautiful will be killed. The song is so deep, the lirycs touches the heart, Dimash as a director was fenomenal. He has a mission, we need it on this strage times. Everyone who reacts to this song will stop and think for a while.

This is Dimash's debut as a director 💜🤗💜 He is singing in Kazakh and all the scenery is around Almaty Kazakhstan. Dimash is very, very deeply rooted in his culture and strongly patriotic for his country (Kazakhstan). Kazakhstan is a newly independent country (1991) who fought and lost many to get their independence. So alot of this is about that but its also his expression of the pandemic and loosing people close to him due to it. He's an incredibly old soul who's caring runs deep through him. He's mentioned many times of his concern of the state of the world currently. 💙💙 Here is an article explaining the MV. en.dimashnews.com/2020/08/09/a-new-video-qairan-elim-was-released-on-dimashs-channel/ 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 The Great Steppe .. I praise its rich lands. Altai and Atyrau, Zhaiyk e lli, Alatau and Saryarka: what expanses of my homeland that has witnessed my happy years! I mean the Great Steppe, the golden cradle of the Turkic world. Hey, silent world! Don't hold your breath! You have descendants who never doubted and did not stand aside during fierce disputes and confrontations. This land has an owner, a kind character, and a generous soul that could neither spoil nor break this changing world with its distorted values. The Great Steppe has a guardian spirit, unknown to a stranger, omprehensible to a stranger.

He has quite a range of notes too, not as big as Dimash's but he can still go very high, The singer was in a contest in Brazil which has videos or he has his own YT channel. He has been reacted to before a few times but I would like to know what you think of him. Gabriel does Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston ones.

Thank you, Caleb, for the friendly reaction. I found in one of the comments a translation of the text at the beginning of the clip. Before the song, the older narrator (but it's not Dimasha's voice) speaks:«The Great Steppe! Ek loof jou genade lande. I praise your vast expanses from Altai to Atyrau, from Volga to Ili, from Alatau to Saryarka. They are silent witnesses to my happy times. I praise the Great Steppe, the cradle of the mighty Turkic world. Hey, silent world! Don't be silent, holding your breath. There are descendants behind you. Nothing stopped them in times of severe litigation and contractions. The Great Steppe has generous masters who have not broken down or exhausted before the dodgy temper of the fickle world. Their hearts are magnanimous and the souls are noble. They have a patron, about whom no stranger and whom no stranger feels."//////////////////// Спасибо, Калеб, за доброжелательную реакцию.

I posted this on the original video, but just my thoughts on this gorgeous piece of art. Thanks for your reaction! Everything about this is breath-taking. The imagery, the composition, the instrumentation, the lyrics, the meaning behind it all, and, of course, the singing. Although I am not from Kazakhstan, and come from a completely different cultural and historical background, I felt every moment of this. It seems to be both a lament and a prayer of hope, both for pains suffered in the past, and those many of us are currently going through. I am very blessed to live in Aotearoa, New Zealand, where we have been so incredibly fortunate so far during the pandemic. But I know others have not been so lucky, and that there are so many suffering (not only from the pandemic, but other tragedies), and so many feeling the pain of losing a loved one. There are also many feeling anger towards leaders who have failed their people - failed to guide their people, failed to protect their people, failed to put their people first. Dimash, and all those involved in this project, gave voice to these feelings, and the result is hauntingly beautiful and heart-breaking - but also full of hope for a better tomorrow. The depth of emotion in Dimash's voice, as well as the instrumentation used, the expressions on their faces, their body language - you can just FEEL every moment of this song. I've watched it a few times now and just keep picking up on more details each time. The symbolism is astounding! The water/blood/fire and the relationship they have to life/sacrifice/purification/rebirth - and again, astounding imagery, with Dimash sacrificing for his beloved people, but then (hopefully!) rising from the ashes, like the phoenix - stronger than before - which also seems to fit with the lyrics. The grey-scale used to mute the colours evokes a more visceral response than vibrant colours throughout, but also fits with the lamentation of the struggles people have suffered. However, the beauty of the imagery and landscapes fill you with a sense of wonder and a desire to ensure that that beauty never fades, or gets destroyed. Even the tiny drop of water into that still lake showing how one small act of chaos creates ripples in the peace and tranquility of life. Then the final shots going over the mountain (obstacles in life that we must overcome to reach those better times we all strive for), before we are greeted with increased colour saturation, showing us the sun rising beyond the lush, green forest, and the lifting of the music to a more hopeful tone right on the last notes....I have no idea how they've managed to make me both so heartbroken, and so full of hope in just a few short minutes. From history we can take the lesson that humans are able to triumph over much adversity, and often come out stronger for it. I hope for all people who are suffering now, whatever the cause, that you will find solace and comfort when you need it most, and that you will emerge from your trials forged strong, like tempered steel. Kia kaha.

@@user-mg2sq1ms9u Thank you so much. It's always difficult to pick up on the nuances of things from other cultures - especially ones you are not familiar with, so I was a bit nervous writing so much about this. It just made me feel so strongly that I had to comment. I think this is the most I've commented in YEARS on KZbin! While I know Dimash was speaking of his beloved Kazakhstan, it also applies to so many other countries, cultures and people - the bloodshed and sacrifice on which our world is built, and the hardship so many millions are currently going through, on a scale not seen in many years. I feel like we can all connect with his incredible heartfelt emotions in this song, regardless of our background. Also, your country is absolutely beautiful, and I hope to see it in person one day. Done in Google translate, so I'm very sorry if it mangles your lovely language! I am Kazakh and I want to try to explain the meaning of this MV. I shared my opinions with some Kazakh people, they agree with me. Kobyz is a soul, heart of Kazakh. and it bleeds like our hearts today. These days are very sad because of the pandemic of coronavirus. We have lost and are losing many people. Among these died people are Dimash's teachers, great composer, mentors. Our news are full of condolenses ( you can read about it in DimashNews). Burning Dimash means that his heart is burning with pain for people, for his native land. And the pianist died as a victim of this disease and died playing his music. The movie's name I would translate a little bit in another way because Qairan means long-suffering, Elim means my land, my country, my folk, my people. The clip begins with the sad historical pages of the Kazakhs and ends with the words : Live my Motheland, my long-suffering land, live my people ( Our history is very tragic, only during the soviet power in the 1933-1937 y we, Kazakhs, lost more than 3 million people ( half of the population) due artificially created famine. We have 9th largest country in the world but population is very small- about 19mln. Dimash is singing about our today,s sadness and tragedy.

Caleb спасибо. . Thanks Caleb. In each performance of the composition, the eyes of Dimash Kudaibergen tell a story and here is one of them, he showed us, having removed this trilogy. We have become witnesses of the artist's inner world !!! Each frame is a story. Stunning vision and subtle presentation !!! The beginning of the film is the story of a huge country. Our ancestors bequeathed the land to their descendants !!! You just have to live, love your homeland. We must not forget the land! We must take care of her, love her !!! Each element contains a huge storyline: gray color, a drop falling into the lake, fire, blood, lightning, raindrops, the border on the isthmus of the dune - shadow and sun and the end of the plot is a transition to the zone of natural beauty of nature. Translation of a monologue; "Great steppe! I glorify your blessed land. I glorify your vast expanses from Altai to Atyrau, from Zhaiyk to Ili, from Alatau to Saryarka, which are silent witnesses of my happy times. I praise the Great Steppe, the cradle of the mighty Turkic world. Hello, quiet world! Not keep silent, holding your breath. The descendants are behind, nothing stopped them during the fierce litigation and fights. The Great Steppe, whose generous owners did not break down and did not faint before the dodgy disposition of a changeable world, whose hearts are generous and noble souls, has its patron, unknown to a stranger and which a stranger does not feel. "

In this lyrical and emotional work par excellence, Dimash presented us with the expression of meaning in depth, meaning that he employed some of his vocal, expressive and physical capabilities to serve the poetic text and the story. The story expressed pain, love for the homeland, human love, and prayers for peace to prevail in the world ... Dimash's voice expressed sadness and hope that together. Regarding vocal techniques, we heard the lātu at the beginning and the contender, and was distinguished by working on the chest voice and the head voice. His techniques were from Western singing with an operatic whiff and he adopted the method of Western songs where he rises to a new class in repetition, ie the necessity that is on the rhythm of the quadrant, while the beginning of singing was on the sound of the just And a free rhythm to support emotional expression, and despite the folkloric introduction by playing the traditional Cubiz instrument ... we saw the piano in the musical composition and composing with the traditional instrument, and this has a symbolic significance and not only aesthetic . Some ... just as the world with its multiple cultures is one and integrated, and every aspect of it is distinctive as well ... the production is beautiful and new and contains a message indicating despondency to the point of burning and vanishing in love for the homeland and peace ... who has long suffered from injustice and war and we saw that in the foreground with traditional music Very sad ... we have found that the work is complete in terms of music, singing, vocal performance and embodiment of human situations, suffering, hope and sacrifice. Even despair and melting into the soil of this beautiful country, Dimash participated in directing ... we saw scenes in a symbolic way ... between the two mountains and this is a Kazakh slogan..We saw the eagle, the most famous national symbol. In conclusion, I say that Dimash brings beauty, depth and attractiveness to any artistic or musical work through his special abilities and spiritual beauty.

You are one of my favourite reactors so I went fast to your reaction to Qairan Elim. Others before me has written about his sadness when a loved teacher and other close to him past away. The Covid19 situation is really awful there but the public numbers are low so it's not strange you didn't expect that connection. It's a lot in his voice that hasn't been so obvious earlier and you gave me words for a part of it -> The voice is sometimes more open. Sometimes it's almost like a scared childs, I think.

Insanely deep content, full of tragedy and sincere hope, and an emotionally heartbreaking musical composition... In essence, the song ′′ Qairan Elim ′′ is like a prayer in which Dimash shares his personal experiences, his anxiety about the fate of his homeland and the whole world. For the most part, the idea was influenced by the epidemic of coronavirus, which affected humanity and claimed millions of lives worldwide. The song's melody came to songwriter Renat Gaissin on early July, in a recording studio, during a break between recordings, while he went through the news. With every news read, the composer's feelings became increasingly unbearable: they, like war reports, were filled with information about the number of new people infected and killed due to the coronavirus. In the head, the theme music started to sound more and more clear... Leaving the phone, Renat approached her musical instrument and started playing a melody that suddenly, like lightning, came to mind. A few minutes later, Dimash approached Renat and asked her to play again. After listening to the melody from start to finish, the deeply impressed performer said he looked forward to singing it. The melody was shown to sound producer Yerlan Bekchurin and he wrote an arrangement for her. From that moment work on the song began. ′′ The song Qairan Elim is a message and a call to all people to have good and positive thoughts The belief that we will definitely overcome everything and face all the ailments. The main thing is to believe in it and remain strong ", Renat Gaissin and Dimash said. In addition, one cannot fail to notice the penetrating part of kobyz performed by talented musician Olzhas Kurmanbek, who gave the composition its own special and unique sound. ′′ Since ancient times, Kobyz has been a sacred instrument that reflects the souls of people. Renat Gaisin's song ′′ Qairan Elim ′′ was born during our visit to Almaty. When writing the song, we all try to understand the full idea of the song. At the author's request and Dimash, we started recording kobyz. I started improvising with the instrument and in the end, during the recording, something really beautiful and magical came out. I was very impressed with the project. This is a great creative experience for me. I hope all listeners like the song "- said kobyzist Olzhas Kurmanbek. The video was filmed in picturesque places in the Almaty region. The directors were Dimash himself and cameraman Azamat Dulatov. Recording the video was easy, no setbacks. The whole team was so inspired by work that they neglected sleep and rest, which resulted in the shooting being completed in record time. ′′ When I first heard this composition, I immediately liked its subtle and very competent message. And of course I gladly accepted the job. The entire filming process went smoothly. Everyone here was full of inspiration. I sincerely thank all the specialists who contributed to this project. Our editing director, Timur Dulatov, nailed building the composition according to his inner feelings and as a result, made a very beautiful picture. The talented Yerlan Tanaev made the magic color correction. Color was very important to us as we wanted the mood of the song to reach all viewers. We put our soul in every shot. I hope Dimash's work fans like our work "- shared Azamat Dulatov. Nellie Nurasheva was the stylist of the video, clothing was provided by famous Kazakhstan designer Ainur Turisbek. It was her unique non-trivial style that fit perfectly into the futuristic atmosphere of the video. Makeup artist Sandi Beksyrga remembers the days of filming with a smile: ′′ You know, nature helped us a lot during the shoot. The beauty of mountains and Alatau lakes cannot be described with words. It seemed like nature itself loves Dimash. When a slight breeze blew, the poplar fluff traced a soft circle into the air and, to the rhythm of the song, it gently sank into the water. It was a really beautiful view! ′′ 9 Denny Bahana

Caleb, love your reaction. I agree 💯 although as someone has said in the comments the song can also be relevant and a reflection of today with so many deaths from pandemic, the world will come out from this trials one day. Dimash’s voice sounds like a soul crying and praying at the same time, the MV is full of symbolism which includes all elements of the nature (tree, water, earth/rock, sky, wind, fire and living beings). The title Sacred Land is also a metaphor. It’s not necessarily only Kazakhstan but more a reference of the mother earth. Love from 🇦🇺

The song is a prayer for the world so punished, especially in this time of pandemic. Hello Caleb ♥️ Kazakhstan suffered a lot. He sings about the past, the difficult days today (Kazakhstan struggles a lot with Covid) and the hope of a better future. This is more a prayer than a song. Hi, Caleb! I can't get past this song. During these almost two days, many thoughts were born in my mind, inspired by the song itself, as well as reactions to it. The fact is that Kazakhs are one of the last nomads in the World. If you think about it, less than 100 years have passed since we began to lead a sedentary lifestyle. It's just a grain of sand against millennia of nomadism. What is nomadic life? It is a worldview, a certain system of values, psychology and philosophy. Every nation with a deep history has a strong bond with its native land. But for a nomad it is also a great geography. Look at the high rate of population density in Europe, for example. Because people who are engaged in agriculture and sedentary craft are enough to live in a relatively limited space. But not for nomads. The population density in the steppe has always been low. One clan considered vast territories to be its own. Because large flocks of sheep and herds of horses require constant movement. Hence the strategy of waging wars and battles, for example. Light cavalry, armor only made of tanned leather with patches of metal plaques. Warriors do not converge in hand-to-hand combat practically. Quick raid, bows and arrows, horseback combat and dissolve into the steppe. Space is what is important for a nomad. The voice-over says that our Motherland stretches from the Urals to Ili (rivers) from west to east, from the Alatau mountains to Sary-Arka from south to north. The steppe is the cradle of the Turkic civilization. Shedding blood, our ancestors won the right to this land, and passed it on to us - to their descendants. This is our Motherland, our Mother. These words contain the essence of the entire worldview of the Kazakhs. Now, of course, a lot is changing. The concept of the "citizen of the world" is becoming more and more widespread. Most modern Kazakhs no longer have this deep attachment at the level of ancestral memory. This is facilitated by worldwide globalization, internationalization, and a policy of openness. That is, the Home is where you feel happy, regardless of geography. But in families with strong traditional foundations, the concept of sacral bond with the motherland is passed down from generation to generation. Here is Dimash - a prominent representative of such a family, clan, I would say. In such families, there is a very strong connection between generations. Hence, all these large-scale shooting, landscapes, and they were filmed in a limited area of the Almaty region, but even here you can see a very diverse landscape: mountains, steppe, sands, lakes. Now multiply this by 10, this is such a huge our Motherland. As for symbols and allegories: blood and fire are pain and chaos (agony), then what we have to go through in recent months, if we limit ourselves to the reason for the creation of this masterpiece. But if we abstract from time, then these are symbols of all difficult periods in the life of any nation: war, hunger, epidemics, poverty ... The death of a pianist is the sacrifices that each nation brings in such periods, burning, but surviving Dimash is a nation, tempered in these difficulties, but with faith and hope for a better future ... I just wanted to add that "Qayran Elim" is not just "my sacred land." Qayran is more "long-suffering". And the word "El" is a concept that unites the nation (people) and the territory (Motherland).

Valerie Rhodes , yes, this word hard to be translated by one exact word, since Kazakh language is full of such expectations which have different colors. Qayran express filling of love, sorrow, being sorry or missing somebody or something you’ve lost and etc.

Translation of the video intro .. The great steppe ... I praise its rich lands. Altai and Atyrau, Zaiyuk and Ili, Samaltau and Saryarka .. What expanses of my homeland that has witnessed my years! I mean the great steppe, the golden cradle of the Turkish world. Hey silent world! Don't hold your breath! you have descendants who never doubted and did not stand aside during fierce disputes and confrontations. This land has an owner, a kind character and a generous soul that could not spoil or break this changing world with its distorted values. The great steppe has a guardian spirit, unknown to a stranger, incomprehensible to an outsider ... It is a very deep song that also reflects the situation the world is going through, the pandemic. Dimash was the director of the video and he has dedicated himself to every detail, so that the message reaches all corners of the planet, really wonderful. Greetings from Argentina ..

Thank you Caleb: all I understood from Dimash's interpretation is that he does not speak only for his native land, but for the whole earth, he prays for humanity and for our beautiful planet!

I found it on the web. ""The song is called «SACRED LAND». Dimash sings in Kazakh. The song is dedicated not only to Dimash's homeland - Kazakhstan, but also to the entire planet Earth. Earth is the birthplace of all humanity. The ancient Kazakh instrument KOBYS has two strings and makes mystical sounds. When Dimash "burns" it means that his soul can "burn" for the sake of the Motherland. Blood runs, it means that you can shed blood for the Motherland. It's an allegory. Filming took place in Kazakhstan. This song is prayer! Prayer for our land, for the people, for our children: "The universe help humanity!". /// Before the song, the older narrator (but it's not Dimash's voice) speaks:«The Great Steppe! They have a patron, about whom no stranger and whom no stranger feels.""

Thanks a lot for your impression! So glad to hear that not only Kazakh people did understand and feel the meaning of the song. As you asked some details, let me tell you some history. Kazakhstan and Kazakh nation suffered a lot during many centuries, for our ancestors living near by two big countries like China and Russia was sometimes very tough. With so little people, they could save such a big and beautiful land for us. During Soviet times, a lot of people died by starvation, hundreds of people killed because of repression. Nowadays, people are suffering by pandemic, economic crisis, poor governmental management, bribery and so many other problems. Almost every family knows someone who died from covid, but even thought the statistics are very low. Dimash knows all of these facts, and I personally think he is expressing all of his such feelings/worries about homeland and whole world by music!

Very nice reaction Caleb. You have great innate instincts now with Dimash. It’s wonderful to hear your take on this project. Not sure if you picked up, that this is Dimash’s directorial debut. He did incredible!! I think he draws exceptionally talented people around him.

BRAZIL - Caleb, how are you ?? Amazing how you always absorb, observe and feel what the music, the lyrics, the scenes really mean. I really agree to say that the subtitling of the narration at the beginning of the video is paramount, totally significant for later to unfold. Yes, how much blood has been shed in the past by the Kazakh people (poets, teachers, musicians, singers, humble people) for the struggle for the freedom of the Fatherland, so that today the people enjoy that freedom, peace. But I also read that the fact of the deaths by the coronavirus, influenced a lot in that letter also and certainly it is another battle that not only the Kazakh people fight, but the world. Anyway, even so, after so much storm, we have to keep faith, hope, try to smile, because the sun shines again. I am always anxious waiting for your reaction, after all I consider you the most insightful in the analysis, not only the voice, music, lyrics, but also in the meaning, the message behind all this beautiful production and with Dimash in the direction, deserves congratulations and also everyone who worked on this beautiful video.

Extraordinary perception here, Caleb - fabulous reaction, as always. This song had impact the first time I saw it; the second time, I cried - and the last few times, I have been left with a strong feeling of hope. The hope that if we all pull together in our world, emphasizing our commonalities and tolerating our differences, we could do so much to ensure that the "people in power" are ones who strive to better the world rather than advance themselves personally. Thank you again for this video reaction.

Dear Caleb, I was going to tell you about this yesterday but when I saw the CHANGE I didn't. Since you didn't mention it the first time you paused you must have missed that it listed 2 directors and the first name was Dimash Kudaibergen. As if he couldn't do enough things before!! And you also didn't mention the use of dark and light or the end with black & white until past the rock where there was color in the distance. Also when there was calm water until one rock went into it which would cause ripples. 🎶👱‍♀️👗👠👠💓

WOW!! That was Amazing. I think the message of the song is very Powerful and Beautiful. You can see a claroscuro, a struggle and desire for peace. And in the end, a hope for a better future. Dimash’s voice is like mighty thunder. He’s AMAZING. Thanks
