Katherine K (comments) gives the backstory to the song but I will add a little xtra info. The saddest thing about the cable car incident is that it didn't have to happen. It was operator error. The car was over packed- way beyond the limit.

This song is based on a true story of a tragic cable car accident in China. Fourteen people died. The only survivor was a young boy that was lifted to safety by his parents. This song was written by Han Hong who adopted the orphan boy and is based on the child's experience. If you watch the Singer version originally done by Dimash it has the backstory. Dimash was upset because he lost his voice the night before the performance, however, he still did a great job.

The cable car was designed to hold only 12 people. There were 36 people crammed into that car that day, and the weight caused it to career down the mountainside and crash. The boy's father feared for his son and held him high up to save his life 😢

I do not know if you will even see or read my comment, but, for a better understanding of this song, go to Gloria Wu's channel and select "The Story Behind Daybreak." It tells the story and tragic story that inspired Han Hing to write this song. It is a very heart-wrenching story and Dimash brings out all the emotions that the child might have been feeling, watching his parents die after saving him.

Great reaction!! So glad you could get the mastery of this tragic story as sung by Dimash. A young boy loses is parents as their cable car snapped and the parents saved the boy just as they fell. The boy witnessed it. This song was written by a woman who later adopted the boy. The feelings of the boy are expressed. You don't get any more a genuine conviction while retaining artistic control.

Hi my friend. 👍 Great reaction. Dimash and his baby brother Mansur has just released a brand new video "TOGETHER" Composed by Mansur. Dimash is singing and Mansur is an multi instrumentalist and is playing the guitar and the piano. And he is only 16 years old. It's like a sci fi movie. Really cool. I highly recommend it.
