Yes Dimash is utterly amazing and grew up in a musical family that gave him every opportunity to explore his talent. Strangely though the most well known comparison to him is Marcelito Pomoy. A completely different kind of singer who grew up essentially orphaned on the streets in the Philippines and learned by singing karaoke with no formal musical training. Quite short at 167.64 cm or 5.5 feet and a married father of 2. Discovered on the Filipino version of America's Got Talent in 2011 while working in construction. In the Philippines the singing technique is called doble kara (dual voice). The 2 singers don't compete and as far as I know have never met. Here is a comparison of them individually performing "My Heart Will Go On" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZC9Y6t3qbSpo7Msi=sZfeQiFkiZ6ff9Xp

I like how this performance 'looks', it just pains me a bit that the sound of his voice is quite processed, muffled and wispyfied. Slavic Bazaar gala performances are pre-processed. His 2018 version of SOS sounds more vivid in other performances that are live. The 2021 version is slightly pitch corrected, but his mic was live and his voice is live. He wasn`t unwell, the whole 2021 show was a "concert" recorded to be streamed during pandemic, it took a day to record the whole show, and I think they must have picked a good day, when he was feeling well. I think they also already had in mind that they would cut the show into clips later, make little live performance MVs to upload to his channel for extra content/promotion, after the streaming moment had passed. The Singer version is also live mic, live vocals, and it`s much more vivid. I know Slaviansky Bazaar version is still his voice, I just think it`s a bit of a shame how his vocals were processed. The 'zing' he has in his live voice is muffled out. This performance is still worth it, for that far away shot, where his high mix seems to cascade over the entire city 😊 I love that you enjoy all the little differences between performances, they make Dimash`s repertoire quite infinite :)) One "Autumn Strong" that you have to, have to watch, is the London version : kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWGlgqingMuqi9k - there`s a long intro vocalise, that is just gorgeous, mesmerizing. It`s an extremely precious performance. That was a very special concert. There`s no official recording, but the link is for a very well shot fancam combination, with very good sound. Another live performance of "Autumn Strong" worth watching is the 2020 Kiev concert version : kzbin.info/www/bejne/amSaenipea6NnKc - it`s very close to how he performs it today in his concerts. Then there`s the Moscow version : kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6OacmSpq9aVmrs - quite improvy, laid back. He was in freestyle mode in that concert :)) "Sinful Passion" in Moscow is quite something too : kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6mvmaqce6uIh9U Anyway :) Love your videos ❤

Between 2018 & 2021 he also lost a good friend, Denis Ten- who was a Kazakh Olympic skater who did a routine with SOS, & Denis also sang, he was going to join him for a song or 2 at his London charity concert & was murdered tragically, trying to stop some thieves who were stealing his car mirrors. Senseless. At the London concert he dedicated SOS to Denis, with him skating on the screen behind Dimash while he sang. You can find fan footage of this much smaller concert. Dimash was truly very ill (including extremely high fever) & was encouraged to cancel his concert but he’s so dedicated & knew too many fans flew from all over the world. He still put on a great show but this London SOS performance was probably _technically_ his “worst” I’ve ever seen him, he was struggling, though mostly from emotions. A good portion he turned away from the audience as he was crying and sang to the screen of Denis skating, & for moments couldn’t sing. It’s a very moving and beautiful performance. After that he dedicated SOS to Denis at other concerts. So for me I think Dimash had a much more personal connection to the song’s themes between these 2 performances & it shows.

@@lovesyoutube8591haha I commented about Dimash’s London SOS performance before seeing your comment here. I completely agree with all of your recommendations, I wish more reactors saw those versions of Autumn Strong as well, so magical all the freestyling, & the Kyiv version is just so beautiful. I wish more people saw the London fan and or others like the sinful passion new wave vs the fancam from his concert with the black sparkle jacket (lol can’t remember where it was but most popular fan can of that song). This channel more than any other I think can appreciate all the different versions.

And you’re right about his low tones- 2021 with this performance & later in the year Stranger at New Wave was the 1st us Dears heard his lower register had developed further. This is the fancam version I think is best, there are many & as I said it is an example of him “failing” technically in many ways but carrying on for the fans, & some of the instrumentals I think are a track. It’s more for us serious fans of the man not just the music, but here it is if you’re interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXXaZnuDhdyeecUsi=pbCZ0e9ziJTxUAY-

I think this is by far the superior version. The only reason I personally prefer the earliest one from The Singer is that it's more charming, and that it's a competition, so people can't accuse him of playback or auto tune, because they wouldn't have allowed either.
@NoUsernamae

It's not an accusation. It is partially autotuned or pitch corrected. Look wings of pegasus' analysis of this. It's clear. i don't think the 2021 version has it but I'm not sure

At one of his concerts, Dimash sits on the edge of the stage to sing s o s. He can’t hear anything through his ear buds and indicates to the team of the problem but still carries on singing. Nothing gets sorted and Dimash changes the song around but doesn’t short change the audience. If you watch the amazing vingiettes that LiLaSi has done on Dimash, career, hopes, his team, his idols etc and episode 8 shows mishaps on stage and you see the s o s performance I’m talking about. The LiLaSi series of 12 episodes are really insightful. They are only a few minutes each.

Thank you so much for adding that info. I thought it might have been one of the German concerts. I know everyone absolutely loved those. I think it was because his tour had been interrupted by the pandemic and he just wanted to give even extra to the dears because they had to wait so long. I’ve been to three concerts so far, my fourth to be Budapest. Dimash can deal with stage problems with ease. The Turkish concert should have been in an open arena but because of the expected torrential storm, the team transferred the whole thing to a different venue, In a day. They ferried the concert goers by coach from one venue to another, The stage was different of course, so dancers, band and stage hands etc had to adapt everything. No one made any issues with that, they just got on and gave an amazing concert,

I've found that as he ages & gets more used to singing this, he takes more liberties with the song. I''m dying to see you react to his MV "The Story of One Sky" and him singing it live. He worked on it for 3 years, and, IMHO, the message behind it is more relevant today than it was even then.

@@SirHairless Dimash’s French pronunciation is excellent. The very first song I heard him sing was his 2017 version of SOS d’Un Terrien En Détresse on Singer show. His pronunciation then, was not the best but it is still my favorite version simply because it was my first time experiencing Dimash. I was flabbergasted by his talent, technique and charisma. What a performer! So his prononciation of “pourquoi je viS... pourquoi je riS” is now corrected ( the S is mute) and the toughest phrase is probably: “Si jamais c’était PLUS beau, PLUS beau VU d’EN haut” because of all the U sounds and the EN (like Lara FabiAN, that you pronounce so well by the way). I’m French Canadian and my husband is English Canadian. I love to tease him and ask him to say the word FOURRURE (fur)... lol... ah those nasty U and guttural Rs... Anyway, I always look forward to your next reaction. Thank you for all your hard work. 🤗

I think maybe you are overthinking the ages. Dimash has sung this song many, many times, and every time, it's different. He sings it at every concert, he has been invited to countless countries, and he sings SOS differently. He has sung it with a full concert orchestra, he has sung it accapella, you name it, and Dimash has sung this song very differently. It served him well in many singing competitions in his youth. In fact, Dimash calls SOS his calling card. There are countless other songs that he sings differently when performing them. Why the song Know, he will sometimes sing that one with lyrics and sometimes as a vocalise. He is never boring. He is a very exciting vocalist. So, just be aware that he likes to change things up ❤❤

Thanks for the comment! Oh I don't doubt that at all - just from the performances I've seen (which is not many), I'm noticing patterns between the ages. These patterns could become more noticeable with the more performances I see, or the opposite and what I'm seeing could be fluke! It's only natural for people to change/develop with age. And only Dimash will know why he performs things differently and what each difference means All I do is mention my thoughts and what I notice musically

@@SirHairless He wasn't sick, he was just sweaty because he danced before. I have no idea why people are telling those stories. Personally, I much prefer the 2021 performance. It's raw, his voice sounds natural there and I most like his raw voice. And he is into it much more emotionally. Also, the 2017 is great. I love all the many performances of this song because they are usually raw and different from each other, but this Slavic one is my least favorite of them all because it doesn't sound like that. As to Ikanaide/Late Autumn - I also love all of them, they are all amazing in their own right and way.

Thank you Sir Hairless :) Dimash has been working and performing this song since his late teens. He has sung it multiple times. It is really interesting to see his progression over the years with S.O.S. I Love this performance of it... and several others too to be honest. :D Here is a video of his progression from teen years 2012 - 2019: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3fFh5J8mriqmZo

All Dimash's performance of SOS is always different every time, my fave from one of his concert Arnau 2019 where he was in a sphere like up above circling the whole stadium and he was so emotional as he performed as a tribute to his friend who was killed

Thank you, Sir Hairless for all your amazing Dimash (& Lara Fabian) reactions. All versions of SOS are magnificent and slightly different. The Singer version is charming because everyone on the show is stunned hearing Dimash for the first time, as we all were. My favorite versions are the Slavic Bazaar and the version he performed in a studio for the 2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival.

This song performed by Dimash is such a precious piece of magical wonder, isn’t it? I discovered Dimash singing SOS during a hard moment in my life and, even after so many revisits to this song, I still love it so dearly that it always makes me want to embrace the whole song and hold it tenderly close to my heart... So, yes, I totally relate to what you said about feeling captivated by the delightful aura of Dimash’s performances of this song even after knowing it inside out. I love all of his performances of SOS but I still prefer the ‘freer style’ you mentioned that he adopted at the 2021 version; besides, when compared to the 2017 performance from the Singer competition, I think he seems to show a better French pronunciation in both this and the 2021 digital show versions :) I really enjoy your comparative analysis among different performances and it’s wonderful to have the privilege of experiencing this song again with you in both emotional and analytical level. Thank you very much, Sir❣

That's what I like most about Dimash. He never sings the same way twice. He always adds or takes away sounds that make the same song taste a little different. It's never boring. I prefer his live performances, with only a few exceptions. One of them is the official music video Screaming, which I like better than the live version because it can lead vocals with himself, which would be impossible live. The other is Be With Me, in which he shows off his acting talent and good sense of humor in a very coolly put together video. The third is the digital version of Give Me Your Love, which she dances through. It's a lot of fun. It's worth watching several different kinds of songs from him, because they are all different.I'm glad you think the same and are curious about several versions of a song, so my time with you will be even more enjoyable. Thank you for your work! Greetings:Andi 😚

No matter how many times l see a performance, there is always something new. The way he uses his voice and you think you've heard an instrument, the lights going from hot to cool depending on his vocals, the heart in his hand during Stranger when showcasing for his " brothers ". Always a detail he envisioned and l finally see.

You have said a number of times so far that you wish it was the first time you were hearing it. I believe that’s the reason a lot of us Dears watch reaction videos, particularly when it’s “SOS”. When we (Dears) discover someone who elicits the same reaction we did, it allows us to experience those first time feelings we had way back when we saw him for the first time. Since 1971 I have been a huge Barbra Streisand fan and over the years I felt similar high energy feelings with her. However, on that dreary February evening in 2017, when I first experienced Dimash, Barbra was placed in the # 2 spot. Lol I could not have been into SOS for more than 30 secs when huge tears started streaming done my face. I have been hooked on Dimash ever since. I love that you’ve our distinguished international club of Dears!!

Thanks to you I have a clearer picture of how Dimash evolves. 😊❤ I really love both versions of the song (and all others) because they both have different elements that I like. And the variety, when listening to many reactions is also a bonus. 😊 The earlier version is smoother and prettier but the later version feels more emotional and impactful to me.
