Meet full on opera singer Dimash. This is a proper cantata, written by maestro Krutoy for him specifically. He is after all a classically trained singer who turned down a place in the Astana opera because he wanted to go after a different thing with his voice - thank god he did too and we got him! This piece is really textbook classical singing. Oh his head moves due to the resonance. BTW he is a tenor actually. Thank you for a great reaction.
@squishylover3
@squishylover3 5 жыл бұрын
He can do anything with that voice. I hope to see more pure classical pieces from him too. Interesting about the resonance, I don't have vibrato so I'm not sure what those vibrations feel like. Thanks for the tips!
@FatLeoRus
@FatLeoRus 5 жыл бұрын
@@squishylover3 From what I have seen, I think that Dimash likes to visualize what he is doing with his voice. Vibrato resonance produces small vibration of jaw, and Dimash doesn't suppress it but follows it and makes it more visible.

@@andyz7711 Dimash himself says he is a tenor. He would know better. His voice teacher also said he is a tenor. And that is the woman from that one reaction video, right? She is not the best at fully understanding Dimash.

Dimash will continue to surprise you even if you listen to the same song because he often changes it up. There is not a day that goes by that I do not listen to Dimash. Two years ago had someone told me that I would be running around Texas humming and attempting to sing Kazakh songs, I would have thought they had lost it, yet that is what I do. You will enjoy hearing Dimash sing in a variety of languages, styles and each time it will be like multiple people are singing.

Thank you for doing this reaction. Yes, Dimash is classically trained since he was 5 years old in the Bel Canto technique. He was offered a job in one of Kazakhstan's opera houses but he opted to go to a neo pop/neo classical career. As he said in one interview he wants to experiment where his voice will take him.

@@squishylover3 And it probably would be true too. You seldom see an artist so submerged into his art. Take a look at the song Ascolta la voce/Know in Moscow he is improvising the majority of the song and his hands seem to move on their own as if playing an invisible instrument. www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DWc8LaReIaOk&ved=2ahUKEwjN47PE6fnjAhUBqYsKHRS0AjwQo7QBMAB6BAgAEAI&usg=AOvVaw04evu4KjvTy36vd8iNoAci Unfortunately in the official version of the concert this song was dubbed with the studio recording due to sound problems and as they could not really match the visuals they had to show him only from afar or not at all.

Thank you for your reaction and analysis. Dimash was asked to continue his career in Kazakh opera after he graduated from the faculty of academic singing in music, but he decided to continue in experimenting and mixing classical and contemporary music styles. The song was written for him by the composer Igor Krutoy, who is Dimash's mentor now. He sang it for the sport events in Minsk for the 2nd European games in June this year. With Dimash's amazing singing it sounds like a hymn empowering the sportsmen to achieve their goals, isn't it ?

@@squishylover3 im not sure what videos you have seen of dimash. the video of mademoiselle hyde on channel HTB has him playing piano(he composed it). at the end of sinful passion at sochi the guy standing up in the front clapping is krutoy. That might be where he first saw dimash, but i honestly don't know, someone else might. Krutoy came out of retirement to work with dimash.

This fancam is best for the Dimash focus, but if you want to hear the best audio, check Igor Krutoys channel. Type Dimash and Igor Olimpico and I think you will find it. You can also check the whole consert from Dimash own channel, thats a good recording.

You commented about his head movement. A couple of years ago, a friend and his wife were over for dinner. He is a structural engineer specializing in the ways waves (sound, water, seismic) affect buildings. I played Dimash's video of "Opera 2" from "The Singer" and he also noticed the movement in some upper register notes. He said the movement is caused by resonance in the bones of Dimash's skull and is completely involuntary. He tried showing me using "simple" calculus (good luck with that!). When I asked for a simpler explanation, he compared it to an earthquake causing the steel frame of a building to vibrate, or to the vibrations of the water in the glass from the T-Rex in Jurassic Park. And many years ago, I worked with John York Skinner, a countertenor at the English National Opera < www.flickr.com/photos/hansthijs/24758560379/ >. He told me most of the other countertenors he knew at the time had studied voice as baritones. He and a friend were playing around in a practice room with the friend singing the baritone and John singing the soprano parts in an aria. The professor walking by heard them, stuck his head in the room, and suggested, "John, you should think of becoming a countertenor." John objected saying he was studying as a baritone. The professor said, "It pays more." And from that point on, John was a countertenor.

I saw the jaw vibrato on his song Adagio in the beginning. I haven't seen much of it otherwise. So, I think that he has mastery over this area of his voice as well. He has many (within each song) "styles" of singing in his portfolio. That is what makes him special. He is opera trained, and if you read the bio on Wikipedia, you'll see that he has already been asked to join the national opera house in his country. He chooses to not go that route.

I can somehow relate to the 'jaw shaking' vibrato, especially when reaching the highest notes in different registers. I lose the agility or flexibility to do vibrato at G4 in chest, A5 in head voice and E6 in flageolette. physical shaking helps in these cases.
@squishylover3
@squishylover3 5 жыл бұрын
Hmm interesting. Do you do it intentionally or does it just happen? Is G4 your highest chest voice note? I've been getting little hints of vibrato here and there in my practice, hopefully it shows up soon
@bigbbro3682
@bigbbro3682 5 жыл бұрын
@@squishylover3 I would say intentionally. After all, vibrato is intentional for most people. Though back in high school, a female classmate of mine could do super-fast 'passive' vibrato which according to her, not intentionally altering the pitch up and down but holding everything steady at a critical point where vibrato happens itself. It's quite similar to tongue or lips oscillation, but with vocal folds. Also, I've heard of another version of how to do vibrato. Instead of tuning the pitch, this method pulses the breath, creating pulses in volume, which gives a similar effect. And yes, G4 is my highest chest voice. I try to avoid going that high in full chest tho. strains start to show up and therefore cause the loss of agility.
