He sings in 12 languages, speaks Kazakh, Russian and English and is learning Mandarin Chinese. He is a multi-instrumentalist (piano, dombra, xylophone, drums, guitar, etc). He has composed several songs, has won countless awards. The pandemic stopped his world tour that included the US. Hello, I’m from Brazil! The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

This is the festival "New Wave" in Sochi (Russia). There was a competition of young performers and concerts of Russian artists. Dimash acted as a guest at the jubilee concert of the Kazakh group "A-studio". Baigali Serkebaev - the author of the song - plays the piano here. It was a phenomenal performance! Superb low notes at the beginning, unreal high notes at the end. And again the oriental tones in the song! Melismа in the finale together with the last "Дай" - 23 seconds! I think it was almost 4 octaves in this song. A low in the mid second octave and a high of E6 (high soprano note in toughest operas). Yeah, he was sick and rushed and edited in the world's best (I refuse to capitalize the dirtbags) show. Dimash is the ultimate practical joke on anyone who thinks they know the limits of singing, which used to be most all of us. He was obviously born with great abilities - perfect pitch and great/unusual vocal cords. But he also had just the right parents to spot and develop his ability - both professional singers in totally different styles. And with a strong family work ethic and support, he trained very diligently for 17 years before his breakout performance of SOS on the Chinese "Singer" show. His individual work ethic is just amazing. Multiple instruments, university music degrees - the whole ball of deal. So everyone expected a young new singer, with some rough edges and training gaps. What they got was a 22 year old singer that sang like a seasoned professional (tone control, dynamics and presentation) and who had completely mastered all the voice transitions and held onto his childhood soprano range (and extended it). Anyway, it makes a hell of a shock on your first experience. The more you understand about singing, the greater the shock. The slightly disturbing thing is that his voice has gotten better in the last 3 years, especially the low end. And of course his musical judgement has been growing and changing. He has also done some Chinese folk songs, Kazakh folk style music, Kpop and even a little Rap. Next? "Love Is Like A Dream" : Romantic/dramatic Russian song with a history (captions, subtitles-english), or "Olimpico" (Ogni Pietra) : Inspirational steamroller in an opera style with more modern music. In Italian. (captions, subtitles/autotrans/english). You may also want to go back and see a good version of "SOS d'un terrien en ditresse" from the 2017 "I Am Singer" or 2018 at the Slavic Bazaar.
